Mangaluru: Two accused arrested for threatening to kill police inspector

Mangaluru, Sep 1: The cybercrime police personnel have arrested Mohammed Rafiq (20) resident of Tharigudde, Bondanthila and a 17-year-old boy on August 30 for calling police inspector Shantaram over the government mobile number with regard to anti-CAA and anti-NRC protests on December 26, 2019, hurling expletives and threatening to kill him.

The accused had hatched a conspiracy to show their revenge and to obstruct personnel from carrying out government duty. A case was registered in Mangaluru east police station on the basis of the complaint by inspector Shantaram. Mangaluru police commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash considering the gravity of the case had handed over the investigations to the cybercrime police station.

The arrest was made by the cybercrime police station inspector B C Girish, ASI Rekha, staff Maya Prabhu, Vijaya Shetty, Abhishek A R, Manjunatha, Rajappa and Appanna under guidance from deputy police commissioner Vinay A Gaonkar and police commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash.
