Puttur: Illegal cattle trafficking – Calf, vehicle seized, two arrested

Puttur, Sep 4: Police personnel conducted an operation, stopped an Omni van that was carrying a calf in an inhuman way on the evening of Thursday September 3. They rescued the animal.

Puttur town police sub-inspector and staff stopped the Kerala-registered vehicle at Purusharakatte, Narimogru village here at about 6.45 pm and found a calf tied and being illegally transported in the vehicle.

The police have arrested Shivaprasad Bhat K (52) and Chandran T (34), both residents of Kasargod, and confiscated the calf and the vehicle.

A case under section 8, 11 Prevention of cow slaughter and cattle preservation Act 1964, Prevention of cruelty to animals Act section 66 and 192(a) IMV Act were registered against the accused.
