Kundapur, Sep 4: A man was arrested by police on Thursday, September 4 on the accusation of taking money from a woman on the pretext of getting married, in addition to providing her of a government job.

Sandeep Poojary Kodi is the person who is under police custody now. He is the former member of Town municipal council (TMC). Husband of a woman belonging to scheduled tribe had died while on duty in the postal department. Sandeep had reportedly taken bribe from the lady on the assurance of getting her the job of her husband and also promised to marry her. Later, it is alleged that he abused her on the basis of her caste. When the woman sought the help of her friend, it is learnt that the accused abused her also in filthy language.

Wife of accused Sandeep Poojary also had called the victim woman and threatened her not to speak ill about her husband. The victim woman duly registered a complaint in this regard at Kundapur police station. On the basis of the complaint of the victim woman, accused Sandeep was arrested by the police.
