Ramanagara, Sep 4: Police personnel of Sathanur station in Kanakapura taluk in this district have arrested a person who had specialized in duping innocent people drawing money by using their ATM cards, by using their lack of knowledge.

The arrested man happens to be Madhu (32), a resident of Chikka Elachegere village near Halaguru. He used to target uneducated farmers or those working as coolies. He used to keep an eye on innocent people who do not properly know how to draw money by using ATM cards.

In the guise of helping the people to draw cash from the ATM machines, he used to write down their PIN numbers without their knowledge. After withdrawing money, he used to handover a similar-looking ATM card to the people. Once they left, he used to withdraw money by using their cards. Many who lost money in this way are farmers and dairy farmers from the rural belt of the district.

Three separate complaints had been filed against him in Sathanur police station. The police led by police sub-inspector Murali took up the investigation and arrested the accused. Six ATM cards, Rs 28,000 in cash and a motorbike have been confiscated from his possession. An investigation in this matter is in progress.
