Udupi: Teenager Drowns at St Mary’s Island

Udupi, Mar 30: A teenager named Rahul Ranjan Prakash (19) from Patna drowned in the Arabian Sea near St Mary’s Island off Malpe near here, on Sunday March 28. His body was recovered on Monday.

Abam Vats, third year engineering student of Manipal Institute of Technology Manipal, his friend, Rahul Ranjan and some others were playing in St Mary’s island with the help of a ball, when Rahul Ranjan Prakash ran to collect the ball that had fallen into the water and then went missing.

An elaborate search was conducted, but Rahul could not be traced. On Monday, the search operation was continued, and the body of the youngster was found a little distance away from the spot where he had ventured into the sea. On a complaint filed by Abam Vats, a case has been registered in Malpe police station.
