CM Yeddyurappa Advises Farmers to Sell Land

Haveri, Apr 1, (DHNS): Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday sprang a surprise by asking farmers to give up agriculture and take up jobs in industries.

He was speaking after laying a foundation stone for constructing new houses in Mannur village at a function jointly organised by the State government and Jameshedpur Tata Compensation Committee.

“These days farmers holding just three to four acres of land cannot prosper. Instead if they give this land for setting up industries, at least they will be assured of a job and can lead a peaceful life,” he said.

However, there are forces trying to stop industries from setting up in the State. He also made it clear that only barren lands will be acquired for setting up industries.

The State government has come forward to set up iron ore plants in backward districts, including one in Haveri, in the State.

Tata Metallic Company is interested in setting up a Rs 14,000-crore iron ore plant in Haveri district. The government is  ready to provide land and other facilities, said Yeddyurappa. The proposed factory can generate 12,000 jobs. The company has agreed to give a majority of the jobs to the locals.

Our Dear C.M is asking farmers to give up agriculture and take up jobs in industries, if farmers give up farming what will we eat, there is already a huge shortage in food grains supply, things will only get worse if farmers give up farming. On the other hand if only barren land is used for setting up of industries, what is the need for the farmers to give up farming, has this man lost it completely!!!

Dear Yeddi, be a leader who practices what he preaches. First give up your ancestoral or acquired land(for a pittance) & ask everybody to follow your example. What we have to eat later vegitables or beef, or should we import our foodgrains from foreign countries like we used to before green revolution. Are u champion of Swadeshi or Vidheshi. Do u want to break the backbone of this country. I know many farmers living & earning more than they require by just having less than 4 acres of land. Its not the quantity of land but the way it is put to use that matters as far as earning a living or handsome living is concerned. Don't join the industrialists lobby simply beacause they have a bigger purse, please protect the interests of all the people.
