Bengaluru gets Veer Savarkar flyover despite opposition's protests

Bengaluru, Sep 9 (IANS): Karnataka's ruling BJP went on to inaugurate Bengaluru's 47th flyover named after Hindu ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on Tuesday with Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa hailing him as a freedom fighter who did not get his due despite his contributions.

In his address, Yediyurappa, hailing every freedom fighter's contribution, said that the country has lost several brave sons, who fought for freedom. "Many got their due. Some like Veer Savarkar did not get full credit, that is the irony," he said after paying floral tributes to Savarkar.

Both the opposition Congress and Janata Dal-Secular had contested the decision to name the flyover in Yelahanka after Savarkar who continues to evoke sharp reactions among Congress and BJP followers across the nation.

The 400-metre-long flyover was ready in May itself and the BJP had decided to name it after Savarkar and wanted to inaugurate it on May 28, his birth anniversary.

However, Leader of Opposition, Siddaramaiah then took to Twitter to attack the BJP decision and this had led to heated arguments between Congress and BJP leaders on social media as well as in public.

The BJP had then decided to postpone the event, citing the Covid pandemic.

Dear Ratan, the two fellow yu are referring were not collaborators / agents of Britishers like Savarkar & Co. Its shame to indian democracy and we indians for naming a bridge on a traitor. But its not strange act by bjp coz they also belong to same Savarkar & Co. No need for surprise if bjp names all Govt buildig, roads etc in the name of other member of Savarkar & Co. Bjp is doing so to create confusion in public and keep them busy to hide Govt failure

Readers, the nation is well aware of absolute rule, by one family, since 1947..... their sucessive descendants, completely overshadowed every opposition, for more then 6 decades. Revolutionary leaders like Lokmanya Tilak, Sardar Patel, Subash Chandra Bose and countless freedom icons, were deliberately cast away, into the dustbin of history.... One of those remarkable personality was Veer Savarkar !!!!

No wonder, it's aptly named. The British used savarkars cowardice to fly over and loot India. The letters he wrote where he begged and pleaded are proof of his flying over.

Worth the deal and aptly named in the recent times in Hindustan.

Having undergone the torture and demoralization in the most hardcore notorious incarceration facility of cellular jail in the hands of cruel british animals, Veer Vinayak Damodar Sawarkar withstood it all while the other so called freedom fighters lived in five star facility jails, wrote books and made merry.

Thousands of true Indians invariably shed tears seeing the torture facilities in the cellular jail in Port Blair.
