Mangaluru, Sep 10: Former MLA J R Lobo said that the high court and the Supreme Court should intervene on the withdrawal of 62 criminal cases against BJP leaders.

Addressing the media here on Thursday September 10, Lobo said, "The state cabinet has withdrawn 62 criminal cases against BJP leaders including the chief minister B S Yediyurappa. Criminal cases against leaders like Yediyurappa, law minister Madhuswamy, C T Ravi, MP Prathap Simha, agriculture minister B C Patil, MLA Hallapa Achar and many more have been withdrawn.

“The decision to withdraw the cases against BJP leaders was based on recommendations of a sub-committee headed by home ministry, while law minister Madhuswamy said the cases were withdrawn on public interest and to reduce the burden of court. The law minister also went on to say that if Pratap Simha or Renukacharya fight for a public cause, cases against them will also be withdrawn,” he said.

Lobo further said that this indicated the administration of the BJP government and claimed that the people’s representatives have one law and a different law for common man. He said that the cases dismissed should go according to legal procedures and demanded the high court and Supreme Court to intervene and bring stay order on the cases withdrawn and also called for an enquiry.

When mediapersons queried about the Congress-JD(S) government that had withdrawn 400 odd cases, Lobo said, "We had withdrawn cases filed against the common man and not those filed against people’s representatives. The government is meant to protect people, but in this case they have protected themselves by withdrawing criminal cases filed against them.”

First of all Indian politics is the worst and the politicians (most of them) are the looters.
Why the Indian judiciary is open to withdraw the criminal cases against the politicians? Is there a separate law for politicians and the common man in India?

When you are in power you can do anything? where is our law and order system? Indian police force ( law and order) is in politicians hand that is the tragedy of India.

Why the congress leaders or common people group lawyers not approached the CBI/Supreme court till now? Are they afraid of opening the old Pandora? Ultimately all politicians are sailing in the same boat in India., we the votes trying to swim.

Elected reps should never be considered for any clemency. Our Parliment and state assemblies will be full of criminals instead of men with impeccable Integrity and Honour.

If the courts takes up those 62 cease against top BJP leaders then it will be proved who is 'Spent Force'. It's not a victory at all by illegally grabbing power from back door and flouting constitution. Now trying to close those cases is again corrupt governance of BJP. Why Yeddy did not ban PFI as promised by him after recent Bangalore riots??????......FYI, SDPI and PFI are not congress leaders and even if the cases were withdrawn against them it was after state assembly nod not unanimously without taking opposition into confidence as BJP has done now.

A reader here predicts that J R Lobo is going to remain a maaji MLA. While he is entitled to his views, it is pitiable, indeed tragic that we are not interested in the development or progress of our nation. People like this reader are only interested in their political party winning. We the people of India are witness to the mess the present government has made of this nation. Development has gone for a toss, employment is mounting, prices are rising, people have no money to buy things, business has slumped, dissatisfaction among the people is on the rise, the GDP has touched rock bottom - yet there are some unpatriotic people who hail the present government and deride people like J R Lobo who gave a very good account of himself when he was the MLA. The so called educated people of Mangalore, however, didn't want good governance, they elected MLAs just because of Modi. These MLAs, whether from North Mangalore or South Mangalore, have made a mockery of the administration and know head nor tail of what is happening. It is unfair to expect Modi to come to every nook and corner of the country and attend to the problems faced by the people. It is the local representatives who have to do it but they are found wanting in their duties, it is but natural for everybody to think about people like J R Lobo and wish he was at the helm of affairs. I don't mind voting for the Congress, I don't mind voting for the BJP but I want good and clean administration. I am not worried which party is in power. I only want people who address the concerns of the masses and I don't want MLAs who hide inside their homes without doing their duty. J R Lobo has done a good job and he deserves to be the future MLA and not the maaji MLA.

With all due respect to Mr. Lobo and party affiliations apart, He was ousted and replaced by a more capable individual Vedavyas Kamath. Kamath is there at any time even during the night to pick up your call and respond. His work has been hugely appreciated by all. It will be very very difficult to dislodge Kamat in the future or for Cong to bounce back in Mlore. Hard core Congress too are slowly moving away from the party. Moreover with the sort of leaders in DK Congress , revival would sounds like 'dreaming on weed'.

I tend to agree with you. Kamath is making his presence felt with his work. I have interacted with him on decade old pending issues in our locality and was working with on this for 2 months. He never blames his predecessor or previous Govt for anything in the past. But clearly states that he is here to resolve. Never did he make us feel he is from the BJP. Mind you even Congis are tilting towards him. He will play a long innings.

Why the cases that were filed against my party's minister and other public servants withdrawn ???
I want be neutral whether its my party ruling state/centre, I don't want to be a blind bhakta, rather I want to ensure my party people do justice to common man, not save hooligans and corrupt people belonging to my country or my party!!!

Now PIL must be filed in higher courts challenging this verdict,

Do you know why BPCL /HPCL /IOC were bleeding cash during UPA rule and mis use of subsidy by ppl in power at that time? Now all those companies r earning good profit for Govt. Do you know how many bogus students were enrolled in UP Madrasas to claim cash subsidy? Once Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) introduced more than 5 L students dis appeared from Madrasas? How come?
Now coming to withdraw of cases let unemployed Lobo ask nedderamayya withdrew cases during his rule from 2013 to 2018.then ask present Govt about cases after 2019
