Mangaluru, Sep 10: Mahesh Patel hailing from Rajasthan who went missing for four years, finally rejoined his family members in the presence of Bunder police here at Bunder police station on Thursday, September 10.
Mahesh Patel, who hails from Rajasthan, had secured a job in the railway department in Rajasthan. He went missing from Mumbai and reached Mangaluru.
Mahesh Patel was mentally unsound and had been creating nuisance in the streets of Alake and Car Street by pelting stones and abusing the public. On August 8, Maimuna Foundation Apathbandava psycho rehabilitation centre Karnad approached Mahesh Patel. He was given a shave, clothed and was later treated at a private hospital for a month which completely changed his look.
During the treatment, he responded well and recalled his whereabouts and his family members who are located in Rajasthan. Mahesh Patel later informed his family members about his presence in Mangaluru.
One of his relatives, Jithendra Patel and two persons from his home town Mularam Patel and Pancharama Patel who were working in Mangaluru could not recognize him despite seeing him in Car Street due to his attire.
Mahesh Patel joined his relative Jithendra Patel, and Mularam Patel and Pancharama Patel at Bunder police station. It is said that Mahesh's father and brother are on their way and are expected to reach Mangaluru by evening and take him back home.
Inspector of Bunder police station, Govind Raju said, "Since the last four to five years, Mahesh was a man who was mentally unsound and creating nuisance at Car Street, Alake. Public used to complain about him for creating a nuisance. We tried to shift him with the help of locals but were not able to control him. We then contacted Apathbandava from Mulki led by Mohammed Asif, they helped Mahesh in getting treated and also supported him to become normal."
