Karkala, Apr 3: Satish Poojary from Renjal, Jaya Suvarna and Pradeip Suvarna brothers from Nitte, and Suresh Salian from Bailoor, who were arrested by the policemen relating to the abduction of real estate dealer, Leo Pereira from Miyar in the taluk for ransom, have been remanded to police custody till April 5.
It may be recalled that Leo was invited by the gang over phone in the guise of paying advance amount towards a land deal on March 22, after which, he was kidnapped in his car. Leo Pereira was kept in a plantation near Shimoga and was reportedly released, only after collecting a ransom of about Rs 20 lac.
The sources said that Satish Poojary, who had bought land from Leo three years back, came to know that Leo is rich. It is suspected that a total of nine persons were involved with the abduction of Leo. The policemen have already questioned two others in the case, and the other three accused also belong to this taluk, it is gathered.
The policemen are hopeful of arresting the other accused in the case, within a couple of days.
