Mangalore: Konkani Social Comedy Staged at Permannur Parish

‘Kombyak Shingam Ailyar..?’ a Konkani social comedy, directed by Daiji Dubai youth award recipient Nellu Permannur was staged at St Sebastian parish ground, Permannur, here on Sunday April 4.

The play was staged by Adarsh Permannur, a social service organization, in aid of raising funds for education of poor students and for the support of undertaking social service of Adarsh Permannur. Fr Thomas D’Souza, parish priest of St Sebastian parish, Permannur presided over the programme. City lawyer M P Noronha, was the chief guest.
 
The play was themed on current issue of terrorism and patriotism.  The terrorists’ disguised as ordinary citizens rented a house owned by a retired army officer, who discovers terror plot when his tenants were found to be in the process of making bombs.  The dialogues between the landlord army officer and terrorists echoed the patriotism among the viewers of play. 
 
The dramatists Felix Lasrado, Alwyn C Veigas, Abraham Pashan, Nellu Permannur, Stephen Mathias Kinnigoli, Vivek Madoor, Shashiraj D’Souza, Jagatpal Salian and Ronald Cornelio enacted in various roles. Manoranjan Manglur, a city-based entertainment organization enthralled the audience during the intervals.

 
Veteran musicians Vanil Veigas Bangalore and Sangeet Guru Joel Pereira provided the play back music. Chaitanya Kala Arts from Byndoor set the stage and Shabari Sounds provided the mike systems.  Suresh Master Manjeshwar was the make-up artiste. 

Fr Thomas felicitated dramatist, playwright and comedy artiste Nellu Permannur on the occasion. Adarsh Permannur president Ivan D’Souza, secretary, Alwyn D’Souza was present.
