Yeddy thanks Bangaloreans, pledges to make city ``Model Global Metro”
From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network

Bangalore, April 5:  Expressing gratitude to the ``mature voters of Bangalore”  for reposing their faith in the ruling BJP and giving it a clear majority in the BBMP elections, Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has pledged transform the city into a ``model global metro.”

``With such massive support from the people of Bangalore, we redeem of pledge to make Bangalore a model global metro,” he said voters of the state capital have given a befitting reply ``to silence the Opposition Congress and JD(S).”

An elated Yeddyurappa, who addressed the media in the afternoon after knowing the results of BBMP polls,  said: ``The people of the city have reposed their faith in the party by supporting candidates in the previous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The continued support to BJP in the first ever BBMP elections has given us immense inspiration to proceed on the path of development.”

The chief minister said the Congress and JD (S) should at least behave as the responsible opposition and cooperate with the Government in executing development works from now onwards.

The JD (S) had failed to gain sympathy of voters by protesting against the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) in the City as well in the national capital, he said.

``The development activities of the Government in the last 22 months in Bangalore and in the entire State were evident. In 2009-10, the Government spent Rs 6,000 crore though BDA, BBMP, and BWSSB and implemented several works,” he said adding: “Now, 15,000 works worth Rs 4,000 are under progress.”

The Government has prepared an action plan of Rs 22,500 crore for addressing infrastructure bottlenecks in the next three years, Yeddyurappa said pointing out that all civic agencies of the city were functioning in a an integrated manner towards providing necessary facilities to Bangalore.

``We shall make all efforts to put in place the Bangalore Governance Act. This will ensure better co-ordination and enable empowering ward level committees. It will also bring increased accountability and efficiency in planning and execution of works,” the chief minister said.

He said the Government was committed for comprehensive improvements of all water bodies in the city in the next 2-3 years.

The Union Railway Ministry has been requested to sanction a Circular Local Train in Bagnalore and the Government has agreed to share the cost of the project, he said.

As promised in BJP’s poll manifesto for BBMP, he said, ``We have decided to build modern multi-level car parking facilities in at least 10 important areas in the city in this year.

The Chief Minister, who held a review meeting with senior officials of
the Energy Department on power situation, said: ``We will ensure that adequate power will be made available in April and May in the State. We will ensure 12 hours of power supply in rural areas (six hours each of three phase and single phase).”

The government has invoked section 11 of Electricity Act, 2003, directing all power generation stations to supply the entire power to the State itself, Yeddyurappa added.

Langoolacharya, Belman/USA Kindly know the facts here: The water tank was 7 feet and the water at the time of tracing the dead body was 4 feet. And the wife of Mr. Yeddyurappa was 5 or more than 5 feet. Do you think that she jumped in to the tank and forget to get up and that is the reason she died? This was a clear case of murder and the accused is Mr. Yeddyurappa. With out doubt the case is covered.

People of Karnataka are wise. They always changed the Government when not satisfied. This time, BBMC ruling is changed. Why they should continue with old ruling who ruled for 60 years and not delivered what is promised. Better, BJP is given a chance now. Let BJP deliver what is promised. Hope, they will do. Else, they will lose next election.

Fact is Fact. Why to find excuses like percentage of Voting etc. BJP's Agenda was and is Crystal Clear. Those who like it to be implemented they go and Vote for their Party. And most of those who don't like it and call it as against the "National Interest" and against the "Communal Harmony" waste their time in "Commenting" only. They keep away from Practical Struggle to Push Back the "Communal Forces." It is Politics and here fool proof Planning and Dedicated Hard work only matters.

    NAAGESH MAAMU,

BUT WHY DONT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT ALL THE DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES WERE ORIGINALLY INITIATED PLANNED AND STARTED BY SRI. S.M.KRISHNAJI AND HIS REGIME.

ITS UNFORTUNATE THAT YEDDI IS IN POWER NOW AND HE IS JUST CUTTING RIBBONS ON COMPLETION OF PROJECTS.

BJP IS NOT AT ALL BOTHERED ABOUT STATE DEVELOPMENT. THEY ARE BUSY IN SPENDING TAX MONEY BY GIVING TO MUTTS AND TEMPLES.

BJP GOVT WILL FALL ON ITS OWN, DUE TO IN-FIGHTING, DIVISIONS AMONG THEMSELVES..

WHAT DEVELOPMENT WE CAN EXPECT FROM THEM ?

Its 1st time in Bangalore BJP taken over BBMP. Even in Mangalore BJP won 1st time and look at the improvements going on in the city. I heard so many comments from people that BJP Mayor in Mangalore won't be able to demolish buildings in car street area to broaden the roads, since people think that carstreet is bag full of BJP voters.

But BJP in Mangalore had proved it by demolishing the building in car street that they work for all people around Mangalore. In kudroli area we found so many house constructed beside roads. We can find the main door of the house in road itself. These things had happen only because of previous congress Mayor's. They needed vote from the people staying around kudroli area, so they had allowed to construct house beside roads. I had seen so many small kids playing in roads in kudroli area. So become of this its very difficult to drive in this area. Hope BJP clear ASAP.

Vincy, H Prasad & others, pl don't quibble over percentages & such other inconsequential things. The fact remains that of the 44% voters who exercised their franchise, more than half favoured BJP. Obviously, it means, the staunch BJP voters did turn up while those owing allegiance to Cong and JD(S) did not.

If the polling was up by another 10 or 20%, which is the outer limit, things would not have been much different. At the most, Cong may have won a few seats more. But BJP would still have gained control of BBMP because it has the larger number of MPs, MLAs, MLCs, who have voting rights. It is necessary to find out why the educated & affluent sections did not vote or were their names d. The important question is what BJP will do after winning BBMP.

You do not understand the second sentence in my comment and you are making big noise on my percentage details.

You are ruled for another five years by a Mayor and corporator elected by 30,72,799 people though you are 69,77,008 people in Bangalore. Before you comment please note that 55.68% of your voters are not interested to vote your candidates as long as there is BJP in the state government.

And you expect me to believe that the other not voted are BJP votes and also the people who did not find the names on the list are BJP votes,

If you think the people not voted are BJP votes. The people of Bangalore went on a holiday and picnic on the voting day because they are fed up of the BJP rule in the state and do not want to vote and it is first time in Bangalore History the BJP rule delayed the election for three years.

karnataka is the only state where rejects are grabbed. when vajpayee was at the centre, and more states were under bjp, it was still sticking with the regional parties and congress. when the other states woke up from their slumber and got back to the congress, they voted bjp. when all the other states have tried and tested different patterns of questions and settled to a certain pattern for sslc, these intellectuals picked up the rags and used it for 4 years, finally came to the conclusion that the old pattern is better.

Vincy, you should get your math right. Do you know the meaning of percentage? If all had voted, the effect would have been the same or possibly could have been more in favour of BJP itself. So, dont talk nonsense. Sour grapes?

Mr. Yeddyurappa is a communal minded person who is interested only in promoting higher castes. He has opposed whatever the ruling parties development programs through out as a opposition leader. Secondly, he and the bjp associates orchestrated church attacks and defended the attacks in the media itself. When gone out of control he says others to take law in to their hands (to chop off hands). He has broken the oath taken as a chief minister of Karnataka. Moreover he was accused of his own wife's murder and the case is covered. Can such a person has the qualities of a Chief Minister?
