Mangalore: Pro-Hindu Outfits Protest Against Harassment of Hindu Religious Leaders

Mangalore, Apr 6: Various Hindu outfits, under the aegis of the city unit of Dharma Raksha Samiti, took out a rally from Jyoti Talkies in the city to the office of the district deputy commissioner on Tuesday April 6, where they held a protest. They urged the Goan government to shed anti-Hindu policies and to withdraw the chapter case registered against Dr Jayant Balaji Athavale by the Goa policemen.
Sri Mohandas Swamiji of Manila, Sri Yogananda Saraswati Swamiji of Sri Nityananda Yogashram, Kondevoor, activists of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Hindu Yuva Sene Central Board, city units of Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajrang Dal, Sri Rama Sene and Mangalore Havyaka Mandal took part in the rally and protest.
At the protest held opposite the office of the district deputy commissioner, Sri Yogananda Saraswati Swamiji addressed the protestors. In a memorandum submitted to the state Chief Minister through the deputy commissioner, these Swamijis and the Hindu outfits criticized the efforts being made by the government of Goa to ban Sanatana Samsthe, which they said, has been spreading spiritual awareness since the last two decades, besides educating the people about the scientific reasons behind various Hindu customs, rituals and festivals. They said, the Goan police have wrongly registered a chapter case of disruption of peace against Dr Athavale, founder of the Samsthe, who has authored over 150 books, by taking advantage of a blast in Madgao. Although the Ashram of Dr Athavale is being attacked regularly by miscreants, the policemen have failed to register cases against them, they have alleged.
The memorandum, copies of which have been endorsed to the President of India, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Prime Minister, union home minister, Goa Chief Minister and others, also alleges that the authorities have been making false allegations against Hindu religious leaders, by slapping cases like the murder charge on Asaram Bapu, arresting of Jagadguru Shankaracharya, attempt to sully the image of Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji, and falsely propagating that the medicines being dispensed by Baba Ramdev contain extracts of bones.
In addition to asking the Karnataka government to bring pressure on the Goan government to withdraw the false cases against Athavale, they have also urged the Goa government to take disciplinary action against the policemen of that state for failing to register cases against the attackers of the Ashram even after the complaints were handed over to them. Another demand of the signatories to the memorandum, is to initiate immediate action against those who tend to insult and falsely implicate Hindu religious leaders.
