Haryana senior cop sent on leave for 'dereliction of duty'

Chandigarh, Sep 17 (IANS): Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Thursday withdrew official work from Additional Director General of Police Arshinder Chawla, posted in the police headquarters, for "dereliction of duty".

In a surprise visit to the headquarters, Vij ordered that Chawla should be divested of all charge. Accordingly, he proceeded on leave for 15 days.

The Minister told the media that Chawla had failed to make headway in pending cases and the 112 helpline.

"The work has been at a standstill for a year. He doesn't update us, neither is the work done," added Vij.

Chawla was awarded the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service on Independence Day this year.
