Mangalore, Apr 7: “The state government has been making efforts to ensure that the students from the state, opting for technical and medical courses, will have to face a single Combined Entrance Test (CET), in the place of two separate CETs that exist at present. The government is also contemplating to bring a legislation to make this happen. Already, Madhya Pradesh has passed such a law,” said state higher education minister, Aravind Limbavali, addressing the reporters in the city on Tuesday April 6.

“There is no ambiguity in the stand of the government on this issue. Efforts to forge a single CET will continue from the government’s side. CET counselling will be held at five centres across the state including Mangalore,” he explained.

Limbavali said that the N R Shetty Committee has already submitted its report on the desirability of ammending Karnataka State University Act. Once the report is examined by the legal department, it will be taken up for discussion at the cabinet meeting, he added.

The minister sought to explain off the BJP’s poor performance in the wards located in his constituency in Bangalore, by blaming the Congress Party and the JDS of using money power to snatch away votes of other parties.
