Karkala, Apr 7: In an accident in which a Volvo bus moving to Bangalore hit a truck at Yediyur near Channarayapatna in Hassan district at around 4 am on Tuesday April 6, a person travelling in the truck died, and about ten passengers of the bus were injured, four of them seriously. Local MLA, H Gopal Bhandary, was one of them.
The MLA was to attend an emergency meeting of the Congress Party in Bangalore on Tuesday. He sustained injuries to his face, forehead and leg. He was treated at Mallika Hospital in Bangalore.
Because of the injuries, Bhandary could not attend the party meeting. On Tuesday evening, he returned home by flight.
