Bengaluru: Students need not go to schools, colleges till end of Sep, clarifies govt

Bengaluru, Sep 20: State government has clarified that students of primary, secondary and degree classes do not have to go to educational institutions till the end of September as the coronavirus infection is increasing day by day.

The government has permitted students of ninth to 12th grade to visit schools or colleges from September 21 in order to clarify any doubts. But the general opinion is that it is not safe for students to visit schools now as the coronavirus infection rate does not show any reduction in the number of cases.

S R Umashankar, chief secretary of primary and secondary education said that students should not visit schools or colleges till the end of September. He also said that further action in this regard will be taken after taking into account the situation.

Rumours were rife that high schools and PU Colleges are going to begin classes from September 21. Education minister Suresh Kumar, however, had clarified that schools and colleges will be open but the classes will not begin.

The state government howevers has not issued any official order in this regard. Hence the state government has clarified its stand on this subject on Saturday and has clearly stated that till the end of September students cannot go to schools or colleges.

    I agree with you that schools should be shut for this academic year......and they should be promoted based on internal assessment and assignments submitted online. but i have to disagree that they play on their cells during school time. Maybe your children are having a blast at home There are sincere children who are dedicated and diligent even though they are terrified if we will get thru this ordeal safely. Kindly do not talk as if everyone is only having fun sitting at home...it is people like you who could endanger everyones kids if a wrong message is conveyed to the govnmt that its better kids go back to school since they only waste time at home. once again...maybe your kids are wasting their time. ...not our kids.

    Schools should be shut the entire year... Promote students of lower classes... Anyways they r having a blast at home... Teachers will b blabbering in online classes n students will b busy with mobile games in the background..

    Better to close school this whole year. No parents will send their childrens in this suatition, and all the private schools started to charge the fees as government orders online classes.

    Yes, they are. By the way, do you have any clue as of when covid will go away?!. As of now, no one in the world knows what next. Everything is working under assumptions. Don't blame governments instead blame on people who acts careless.
