Dubai, Apr 18: Much-awaited first ever Tulu telefilm “Jokulatike” enthralled tulu loving people residing in UAE. The special screening was held at Elite English Speaking School auditorium on Friday April 16, which was filled to the full capacity as the enthusiastic Tuluvas came in large numbers much ahead of the announced show time.

The programme began at 4.50 pm with welcome address by Kushal Shetty followed by ceremonial lighting the lamp in the presence of well known tuluvas of UAE. C R Shetty, convenor of UAE Tulukoota, Dubai led the distinguished guests to the dais. Shiva Sharan Shetty, chairman of Namma TV, Harish Sherigar of ACME Building Materials, Jyothish Shetty and Sai Krishna, producer and director of the telefilm respectively along with Tulukoota members Kushal Shetty, Jayanand Kunder, Daya Kirodian and Sarvotham Shetty lit the traditional lamp to declare open the show.

The show started with a loud applause from the audience. As the story line unravelled public got involved totally enjoying and appreciating the punch lines by long applauses. First half of the movie was very brisk with fast moving storyline, full of comedy scenes and brilliant performance by the well known Tulu drama artists of Mangalore. The film narrates the story of three very good childhood friends, from three different religions, Alwyn, Ashraf and Ashok. All the three are real estate agents in Mangalore, trying to outsmart each other. As they move around narrow lanes, green pastures and outskirts of Mangalore city to show properties to their prospective clients, audience also followed them and enjoyed witty dialogues and funny moments.

Second half of the movie had some good social message to the society where in it says by outsmarting each other, trying to grab others’ business opportunities, anti-social elements may take advantage of the situation and twist the situation to their ulterior benefit. Telephone conversation of goons with a local politician shows how the politicians play dirty game to harness personal benefit out of public sufferings. At the end all the three friends realize their follies forgive each other and form a team again. Social message was very apt and touched the general public as they identified with recent happenings in Tulunadu.

Jyothish Shetty is the producer who ventured in to the new field, hitherto untouched in Tulunadu. The film was ably directed by Sai Krishna. Dialogues, background music and brilliant performances by all the artists are the strength of the movie and thus held audience’ interest till the last scene.

Sachin Shetty and Prasad Rai deserve special recognition for their great job done in setting up the screen and sound system management.

During the interval, there was a small stage programme to felicitate Sai Krishna, story and screenplay writer and director of the tele-film. K R Tantry took the podium to welcome the guests and called upon C R Shetty, convenor of UAE Tulukoota to escort the guests to the stage. As per the practice followed by UAE Tulukoota, Dubai Sai Krishna was felicitated on the occasion recognizing his contribution made in the field of Tulu language and Tulu drama. James Mendonca garlanded the guest, C.R.Shetty together with Sarvotham Shetty presented the shawl, Harish Sherigar presented fruits tray, Udipi Mohammad Irshad presented citation and Herman Lewis presented the memento.

Thanks & Congratulations to UAE TULU KOOTA for organising the screening of Tulu TeleFilm “ Jokulatike” for the benefit of Tulu Audience in UAE. Good effort by C.R. Shetty & team.

“Jokuilatike” first directional venture of young unassuming simpleton Mr. Sai Krishna and the first production venture of Mr. Jyothish Shetty is a brilliant effort and both have succeeded in giving the Tulu Audience a good, clean, entertaining, enjoyable film delivered with a sensible social message. Considering it was their first venture, it has turned out to be a very good film which has lot of humor, comedy with brilliant acting by all the main actors. Funny moments with catchy dialogues, good photography, good background score, crisp editing, good direction are the highlights of the movie. Though it was a telefilm, it is a far better film than most of the commercial cinema productions in TULU. Sai Krishna, the director of the film deserves all the praise, credit and encouragement for his fantastic effort in making of this film enjoyable and entertaining. Though there were some flaws here and there, but on the whole a wonderful effort and an enjoyable film for all ages of audiences. “Congratulations to all the members of the team, actors, technicians and all the people connected with this film. We are sure with the success of this film you will come up with more and more entertaining movies in the near future. We wish you all a very bright future.
