Udupi: 'Mhataro Chorbela' Creates Landmark with Golden Show at Udyavar

Udupi, Apr 19: Ace Konkani dramatist Francis Fernandes Cascia's stage play 'Mhataro Chorbela' celebrated golden show at Udyavar Church premises on Sunday April 18 with over 1,500 Konkani enthusiasts witnessing record breaking play.
It was a part of the celebrations of Udyavarites, who hosted the first-time here in association with ICYM Udyavar. Alfred D'Souza of Cab Real Estate Dubai sponsored the show.
The event started around 7.00 pm with prayer dance by Manisha Rebello, YCS member. The members of Mhataro Chorbela troupe and guests were taken on the procession from church gate to the main stage by band.
Vivian D’Silva, president, Udyavarites UAE, founder president of Udyavarites Jerald Pereira, vice-president Gilbert D’Sa, and media co–ordinator Cecilia D’Sa welcomed the guests on behalf of all the members.
Fr Baptist Menezes, episcopal vicar of Udupi, Fr Mathew P Vaz, vicar var Udupi deanary and parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, Fr Charles Noronha, parish priest of St Fancies Xavier Church, Udyavar, Alfred D’Souza, CAB Real Estate Dubai, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief Daijiworld, Roshan Machado, ICYM president and Godfrey D’Souza, vice-president, parish council of St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar, were present.
Prayer was conducted by Fr Mathew Vaz. Udyavarites felicitated director Jpy Paladka, co-ordinator Vitore Karkal and the entire cast by presenting a memento. On the same occasion Udyavarites specially felicitated Francis Fernandes Cassia. Walter Nandalike, Fr Charles Fr Baptist, Jerald and Roshan felicitated Francis and Cecilia D’Sa of Udyavarites read the citation.
In response to felicitation Fernandes said he is working for the mother language Konkani. He thanked all the people who supported him during his lasts show in various place, and especially Udyavarites for arranging the 50th show at Udyavar. He acknowledged the contribution of his wife for her tremendous support that helped him reach landmark.
Fr Charles on his wishes said that Udyavarites is the organization that helps all the needy people. The organization has taken up many developing work at Udyavar on various occasion, he added.
Fr Baptist Menezes said that Fernandes has the ability to laugh at himself and make others laugh. He also said that in the coming days artists from various fields in Udupi will be brought under one roof along with the support of Konkani lovers.
Robert Fernandes Udyavar compered the programme and Jerald Pereira delivered the vote of thanks.
After the programme the entire audience gave a standing ovation to Fernandes. During the stage programme a special tribute to Willy Rebimbus was paid.
