Due to the project people are forced to leave their place. Future generation will suffer due to this and there will be not a single tree after 10 years. our family sold our property near yellur due to this thermal plant and shifted to mysore.While seeing its chimney vomitting black smoke during its trial period i felt like not coming to this place again.That was my favorite place without pollution but no i dare to think that place after this thermal power plant.

Mr Ashok Pai,you have hit the nail in the coffin,Thermal plants are an ecological disaster.Look what has happened in New Delhi at indraprashtha and badarphur thermal plants .The children are now suffering from asthma wheezing,apart from the dense fog in winters which creates anuisance for flights,trains.The same is the case in Faridabad and Panipat.

Am speaking from my experience for i have lived there for over two decades.i dread to think of the calamities we will face when this plant is allowed to function at full capacity>None of the politicians or officials involved in this project will be living there.The local people will face the brunt of this calamity.Wake Up before it is too late.This project is not meant for our district.This project must be redesigned,so that it is converted into GAS based thermal plant.And Gas is freely available from MRPL/ONGC.

you've gotta be kidding. the opposition by the greens is justified. the thermalpower plants use enormous amounts of perfectly good potable water to cool the plants. the discharged water is considerable warm, and will destroy the estuaries, which in turn will kill any fishing in the nearby area.

fly ash generated is a huge problem. the smog created will directly affect the western ghats. india has very poor quality coal. they might use higher / better quality coal in the beginning, but later they will revert to whatever that's economical. indian coal has very high sulphur content, and even the australian supply will not ensure anything better than a few percentage improvement. the carbon plumes itself is enough to cause significant warming of atmosphere, green house gases, and other associated problems.

thermal plants are not the way forward. building one is easy and okay in the short term. but nobody builds a plant for 5 years. they think of 20 years ahead, and thats probably the last thing we'd want. coal based plants. they are more destructive than ANY other power generation method.

Nice to hear that the Nandikoor power plant will be commissioned soon even with the lot of opposition from some quarters. People must have understood the importance of the power plant having gone through the serious power cuts.

Any ecological concerns because f the power plant can be taken care of with the latest technology available.

It is good news that additional power will be available from Nandikoor power plant. This plant is within D.K./Udupi Districts and hence the power generated should be essentially made available to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi areas.

Hope The government will prioritize these areas before planning to supply it elswehere.

Great news, showing some relief from the Power cut. Dakshina Kannada district including the Udupi and North Kanara dost. has been always treated step mother treatment from the Ruling elites of Bangalore. The power cut problem in this part of India from last 45-50 years and more, No government shown both congress or non congress any interest on these districts. So many Enterpriser from Mangalore migrated other places in India to setup their ventures. Indian being independent last 62 years not able to meet the basic need of the common people. Still India lacking, good roads, drinking water and Power supply, this is very basic thing even country like Thailand, Vietnam is better than us.
Now so called leaders of India has to show interest in this matter to do justices to Indian people, Today’s globalization process sourcing good contractors to do this type of infrastructure jobs is very easy and they do this jobs with in the time frame and built this turnkey projects with do diligence and commitment to meet the dead line. This will reduce the cost of the project and accountability of the contractors will their till the project is technically viable as per the agreed terms. In the past even present, contractors like road building road from one side and other side it is spoilt with in days not even month and no accountability whatsoever to any one. Indian ruling parties always made infrastructure development is chance to fill their treasury to run for next election. This system of Policy of the ruling elites has to end one day that India has to be role models for other developing countries.
