Nithyananda’s Personal Bank Account has Rs 32 crore

Bangalore, Apr 29 (DHNS): The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths have stumbled upon a personal bank account of self-styled godman Nithyananda with a leading private sector bank in Bangalore in which he has a whopping total deposit of around Rs 32 crore.

The bank has frozen the account at the behest of the CID which is looking into all the financial transactions –– accounted as well as unaccounted –– of the godman who is now under police custody for interrogation.

At least three other bank accounts where two trusts run by Nithyananda maintain a deposit of around Rs 20-25 crore have already been frozen. The CID is analysing these accounts and the sources of the funds. Efforts are also on to trace whether money from these accounts has been transferred to undisclosed banks abroad.

Nithyananda’s unaccounted money in his personal account is different from the deposits that are in the name of two trusts, Dhyana Peeta Charitable Trust (DPCT), which was registered in 2003, and Nithyananda Dhyanapeeetam Trust (NDT), registered in 2005.

Police sources believe that money was diverted from donations to Nithyananda’s personal account where profits of a company by the name of Nithyananda Imports and Exports, run by his brother Nithyeshwara, alias Gopinath, were also deposited.

Deccan Herald is in possession of some documents which show exports of a large number of idols of Hindu gods and goddesses which were sold at prices 5 to 15 times higher than their cost price. Some of the wire transfers indicate that the profits were moved from Wells Fargo Bank in California to some Indian banks which are now in the process of being identified.

The only trustees of NDT and DPCT are Nithyananda, his secretary T Dhanasekaran, alias Sadhananda, and his wife D Jamunarani, alias Ma Sadhananda.

The last two have disappeared from Nithyananda’s Bidadi ashram since Saturday.
It is learnt from unimpeachable sources that while DPCT filed a tax return of close to Rs 5 crore in the 2009-10 fiscal, NDT’s return reflect a staggering Rs 8.5 crore.

This unusually high return declared by NDT has prompted the Directorate of Income Tax to select it for special scrutiny.

Income Tax officials will officially write to the CID and seek access to documents related to the financial dealings of Nithyananda’s many organisations operating from the United States, Europe, South America and India.

They reckon that there is strong possibility of the I-T department serving show-cause notice to the godman on why the exemption benefits enjoyed by his trusts under 80G and 12A of the I-T Act should not be cancelled. The investigation wing of the I-T department will also likely get into the act to pursue its own enquiries on possible tax evasion by the godman and his organisations in India.

The sources here as well as abroad have disclosed that Nithyananda and some of his closest associates operated at least three hedge funds which operated from the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The CID is in the process of getting hold of the details of the investment funds as well as obtaining information that in 2008 Nithyananda had plans to outright buy a private island either off the coast of Canada or Indonesia.

His global secretary Sachitananda was tasked with the job of contacting a Germany-based Turkish broker in islands. The money set aside for the island purchase was US$ 5 million.

Please be corrected that in Hinduism even though caste system exists it is not recognized in early vedic scriptures as it is exists in todays society. Also there is nothing called upper castes and lower castes, most of these things exist in our minds. Todays upper caste may become lower caste with the passage of time and vice versa. At best the caste system can be termed as division of labour turned ugly...

Don't drag uneccessary things to healthy debate of particular issue.Suddenly how surfaces Jihadism!!??.There is no such so called upper/lower caste Kazis!There is no discrimination between humans on the basis of color,status,power,pavrohitha clas and so on.
All are equal on the eyes of Allah

Please treat all human beings irrespective of faith, caste, creed as just human beiging with the same feelings, and needs. Lets agee that all human beings are born equal and no one is superior or inferior to other. The religion one follows if by chance and by choice and its not ones mistake to be born in that relgion. Lets all agree that no human being can be God or Godly and we all are His creations. Lets agree that we need to be more humane than more religious. Lets agree that India belongs to all Indians and just dont devide us as majority and monority. The resources of India belongs to all its citizens and not to a particular community. Lets call a shudra or shia or christian or a brhamin or a sunni as our Indian brother and we all are equal to each other in all respects. Lets believe that ones karma/deeds can give us salvation and not ones birth. LETS STOP THE DIVISION. Lets work for the unity in diversity. Lets feel pride in being called as Indian and lets not feel pride in being called as muslim/chrstian/brahmin/sikh/sunni/shia/shoodra/shetty etc.

Lets start respecting ech other and spreading love. Love only can bring in peace. Lets stop hate and hate only can bring destruction.

i am surprised with some of the comments the readers have made like the song says it happens only in india. All this swami nonsence has been happening for ages and belive me the actual truth will never come out what ever comes out will be corrupted and malicious. the truth of the matter is there is no respect for life. this was not the first time and definiately not the last. There will be so many similar thing happening presently parallel to this case and what ever has come out is only the tip of the iceburg.

Dear Shanawaz..Dont just blabber anything thinking you understand how the society runs.Only some fools me buy your points. Nithyanandas clients were all the upper or rich class for what you call. No poor man went there to get near to god. This fella used top preach soem stupid tantra's which for people who struggle for Food shelter and clothing will not even be the last options to spend their hard earned money.

Its karnataka police who are interogating him and getting out the truth's not the chelas from the center. Narendra Modi might have shared a stage with this guy not knowing about his real business. Yadiyurappa has never been to this Swami nor did he endorse him. He funded the mutts whihc are doing some good work in the society like Suttur, BGS or Udupi Matt's. I dono who they have utilised those funds but it was not necessary as they have enough wealth to fund their activities. Even the UAE govt had welcomed JSS to expand their business or schools here which saw beautifull stage shared by Their Excellency Local leaders and thier holiness the swamiji's from JSS, Suttur Matts. Just because media's do not highlight the holes in particular societi's doesent mean only Saffron clad's exploit the society. learn the facts.

Where was IT official.When our accounts exeeds few lakshs banks are asking questions and explaning about TDS.Is govt simply closes it's eyes or lack of juridiction as said by custom officer of Banagalore that due to holiness of Nitya they are not checking while passing customs in the Airport!!This is amazing news really!

For the reason I perhaps,for his capacity having un accountable money power he was not hancuffed and CID could not open his mouth for about 4 days!The alligation also in the rounds that CID police deliberately taking him in to custody to avoid jail for the time being.A govt proscutor adressing him as Swamiji made me to laugh@ govt advocate while adressing press brief.Money can buy anything.

He was Bandith,Greedy Man, smugler,womeniser,FERA-FEMA violator,Cheater,Actor,and a social menace.He should be tried as per merit of the case and the link with LTT also should be probed.

Division apparently happened in different form. In your case, initially it was with minority catholic and majority Hindus, u tried ur level best in failure. Being fooled by the readers, while bearing a smirk you bump in to upper and lower castes with in Hindu community! What is u trying to divide it for when u have no authority to speak on caste in any community with in India. Living abroad may have taught u ask the religion which certainly helped u to play the game on castes now? The sheer nonsense on your comments on caste proves u has hardly got any knowledge on day to day happening across the globe. Your hard spend time to improve the skills are going on vein. Cannot even beieve a Swamy is having 32 Crores in his Personal Bank Account who was telling till he was caught he is Innocent and charges are framed against is false. Now what Nitya has to say. This is Democracy. Even after getting so much of evidence against Nitya I am 100% within a few days he will be out on Bail as Investigations are going on in Karnataka and Nitya's God father's are there in the Government who will bail him out. No its useless discussing this matter.

Tantram - Vamachara or Vamaranga Specialist used the skill of mastering art of .ex

The Government should work out with all the religious bodies to see if any Ritual aspects are to be refined. Sometime these bad rituals are created for being opportunistic in the name of religion. So, why cant Government abolish the system of tantrum, human sacrifice etc ?

He also has a huge source of fund. Means a huge pool of rich devotees who are part of him. So, actresses are paid in lakhs, no wonder.

government should have a strict policy of monitoring every public institutions for financial irregularities. This is misssing too.

There are too many such people around in Karnataka. So, the only way to attract people, money seem to be these:
1. Apply ash/red dot on the fore-head, wear white or saffron costume
and preach philosophy, meditation, and do tantrum (magic)

2. Sell Idols, sell books, publish as many preachings/compiled books with proper isbn number and donate charity. With the charity, get awards/titles etc
3. Teach people (meaning Cheat people). Saakshara outside, Rakshasa inside.

Gatanugatiko loko, naloko paramarthika! Just follow the crowd without thinking why ?

Argument should not be whether nicknamed Nityananda is guilty or correct. Important thing is "lessons learned" shoudl refine our policies so that there is no scope for such scandals henceforth.

Cleaner Karnataka is what should be the immediate task

This is the way the upper cste people exploit the resources of lower caste people and amass wealth. Secondly the govt too grants funds for these people. Naturally they have crores in swiss banks too. Thats the one reason for the litigation in the courts to take the trusteeship of temples and mutts. Easy money in the name of God and no income tax and no auditing. Only money.
