Puttur: Patrao Junction extends open invitation to accidents

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Nov 7: The Patrao Junction on Mani-Mysuru highway has been identified as the focal point of accidents. Accidents keep happening here almost on a daily basis and several lives have been lost till now.

Because of an unscientific circle built at this spot, misunderstanding and confusion arises between the vehicles coming from Puttur town and vehicles passing by the state highway. This confusion gives rise to grave accidents at this junction. After the widening of Mani-Mysuru state highway and undertaking development works, vehicles have now been allowed to directly move on the bypass road. This bypass road joins the road leading into the town near the Patrao Junction. Even after the road widening, the circle standing here is the same old one. For this wide road, a small circle fails to properly regulate the movement of vehicles.

The vehicles coming from inside the town and those passing by the state highway also face confusion as there are no boards giving proper instructions or directions. Even the pedestrians fail to properly assess the movement of vehicles and therefore, many pedestrians become victims of accidents here.

Many vehicle drivers and owners have demanded to install a proper system at the Patrao Junction failing which the place will give rise to more accidents and claim more lives.
