Udupi, Nov 9: The groom who escaped on his wedding day leaving the bride high and dry, reportedly attempted suicide by drinking phenyl on Monday November 9.
Ganesh from Parkala attempted suicide. He was admitted to a private hospital in Manipal and now said to be out of danger.
It may be recalled, Ganesh was in love with a girl for 13 years and was scheduled to enter wedded life on November 6. Later, he had escaped on the day of the wedding. The girl's family was searching for the missing groom.
The bride was seen holding a protest in front of Ganesh's residence.

Udupi, Nov 9: A couple was involved in a love affair for 13 years. The lady was expecting to enter the wedded life in the long-awaited grand wedding. Like a bolt from the blue, she was hit by a shocking information. Her lover had escaped on the day of the wedding. Now the girl's family is searching for the missing groom.
This strange incident happened in the city. A girl from Manipal and Ganesh from Parkala, who were in love with each other for long, were scheduled to enter wedded life. But the marriage function had to be cancelled as Ganesh failed to turn up for the wedding. The lady is now holding a protest by squatting in front of Ganesh's residence.
During the 13 years of his love life, it is said, Ganesh also had maintained physical relationship with the lady. The girl believed this to be genuine love and submitted to his desires as she was sure that he would one day marry her.
As a result of this relationship, the girl had become pregnant twice. Ganesh convinced her to abort the pregnancy both the times, citing that they were yet to get married. Later, under pressure from the lady, he acted as if he was ready for the marriage. The girl's family also agreed for the alliance. Ganesh agreed to tie the knot on November 6, and all the pre-wedding rituals were performed. But Ganesh clandestinely fixed his marriage with another girl on November 4.
The girl came to know of this plan and intervened. She succeeded in getting the marriage cancelled. Ganesh agreed to marry his long term lover on November 6. On the wedding day, the bride fully decked up, reached the marriage hall but the groom failed to make an appearance. The family members of the girl went to his house and found that he had disappeared. His phone was also switched off. The girl, after all her efforts to trace him failed, has been on protest in front of his house.
