Reforms spur II PUC Results - Udupi First, DK Second

Bangalore, May 7 (DHNS ):  The performance of students who took March 2010 second pre-university examination has witnessed an 11 per cent jump. The pass percentage of fresh candidates this year stood at 61.94 against 50.88 last year.

Announcing the results on Thursday, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri attributed the marked improvement in PUC results to several reforms undertaken by the government. “We have recruited 2,500 PU teachers via KPSC, given teachers training and implemented attendance norms strictly. I would like to think that these reforms have contributed to the improvement in results,” he said.

The overall pass percentage, including that of repeaters and private candidates, stood at 49.27, an improvement from last year’s 43.1. Of a total 4,26,165 fresh candidates, 2,56,108 passed. And out of 2,24,035 repeaters and private candidates, 54,842 cleared the examination.
