Mangalore: GP Elections – Prohibitory Orders in District

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, May 7: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC), who also happens to be the district magistrate, has issued prohibitory orders under section 144 all over the district from 5 pm on May 10 to 5 pm on May 12. This has been done to ensure that no untoward incidents occur during the gram panchayat elections scheduled to be held on May 12.

As per the orders, no meetings, functions and processions can be held in the district except the government and religious programmes. The members of the general public are also barred from carrying any arms and ammunitions during the period the prohibitory order is in force, the DC said.
