Bengaluru, Nov 11: The department of collegiate and technical education has clarified that the decision relating to college opening applies to degree students of all semesters or all years and there is no need for the students or lecturers to get confused. 

The government has decided to open all the universities, private universities, government, technical, diploma, unaided colleges from November 17. For this purpose, it has prepared a standard operating procedure (SOP). This SOP has been prepared by keeping in mind mostly the final semester degree students and postgraduate students. There was no clarity on the physical classes for other semesters. Therefore, other than final year students of degree, engineering, diploma and other courses, the order had created confusion in the minds of other students.

Director of the collegiate and technical education department, professor S Malleshwarappa, said that the SOP was prepared in consultation with the health department. "We have asked the concerned to adopt shift system, communication classes etc on the basis of the student strength of the college, availability of rooms etc. Physical classes will begin for all the students of all the degree courses from November 17 and there is no need to have any confusion on this issue," he said.
