Udupi: Murder Plan - Two Aides of Underworld Fugitive Arrested
Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, May 8: Two persons, who were allegedly plotting to kill a person from Karkala under the directions of underworld criminal, Vishwanath Koraga Shetty, were arrested by the district policemen from Manipal on Friday May 7.

The arrested men, William D’Souza from Attur in Karkala, and Kishen Hegde from Inna village near Padubidri, had hatched a plan to eliminate Jagadish Poojary alias Sanoor Jagga, who is based in Karkala, the policemen said. Under the directions of the district superintendent of police, Pravin Madhukar Pawar, deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Jayant Shetty, executed these arrests.

William D’Souza faces an earlier charge of having assaulted Lakshman Poojary from Nandalike under Karkala rural police station limits, along with three others. He had been evading arrest so far, having fled to Solapur in Maharashtra. He had come back to the district again, to murder Jagadish Poojary with the assistance of Kishen Hegde, his friend. Along with Hegde, William had contacted many friends and foes of Jagadish Poojary, and collected elaborate information about the movement of his target, the policemen said.

Although the duo had planned to hack Sanoor Jagga with swords in Karkala on April 30, their plan did not materialize, as Jagga failed to turn up at the spot where they were prowling for him.

Peeved at the failure of the above plan, Vishwanath Koraga Shetty had reportedly ordered his assistants to shoot Jagga dead. For this purpose, eight live bullets were delivered to the accused. The team led by the DySP, which gathered this information, arrested the two when they visited End Point in Manipal for collecting a gun.

Kiran Hegde, brother of Kishen Hegde, is an under-trial prisoner in Bellary jail, relating to the murder of a native of Gulbarga.

A case has been registered in this respect, in Manipal police station. Circle inspector of police, H D Kulkarni, has taken over further investigation. Kota sub-inspector of police, Mahesh Prasad, Manipal sub-inspector, Madhu T S, and other personnel had taken part in the operation.

Appreciations to the DK police team for their balancing act. Last week they arrested 2 Muslim criminals, and this time two criminals from different community. One should study from our police team how we can maintain the balance of communal harmony

Two days before in Mangalore would be killers were apprehended from the minority community then some of us doubted the arrest!!But today in Udupi, would be killers were also arrested of a majority community. Therefore don't mix the majority and minority community on the issue of criminal activities.Police has the capacity to prevent crime before it takes place as technology assists somewhat. Therefore it is unfair to blame police.
