Bengaluru: 2-hour duration for bursting 'Green Crackers' from 8 to 10 pm

Bengaluru, Nov 13: A two-hour duration with timings between 8 pm to 10 pm has been stipulated by the state government for bursting 'Green Crackers' during the Deepavali festival.

The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has issued an official press release stipulating the timings for bursting green crackers, which have been permitted during the Deepavali festival.

"In the Green Crackers, the harmful chemicals such as aluminium, barium, potassium nitrate and free carbon are eliminated or decreased for reducing air pollution and noise levels considerably. It is established that Green Crackers emits 30% less of the particulate matter and noise level are below 125 decibels when compare to conventional firecrackers,’’ the press release said.

The manufacturers of Green Crackers are as per the formulation developed by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Environmental and Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) and product approval for the new formulation is given by Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO).

The Green Crackers can be identified through a distinct green logo of CSIR-NEERI and PESO as well as Quick Response coding (QR) system displayed on cartoon boxes.
