Doha : MCC Announces Annual Talent Contest

Doha, May 11: True to its goal of serving the community and its Motto 'YEYA EK KUTAMB BHANDIAM', the Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar is pleased to announce their 6th Annual Talent Competitions in Fancy Dress, Elocution, Family Photo, Quiz, Dance, and Singing to be held on 21st May  and 28th May 2010 (Fridays) at the  Ashoka Hall, ICC premises, Abu Hamour.

These competitions which are organized to promote and showcase the talents and creativity of the children and adults of the Mangalorean community in Qatar, have seen tremendous success over the years,  not only because of the participation of  hundreds of children and adults , but also for the quality of the items that have been presented and are being eagerly awaited for by the community.

CATEGORIES FOR THE TALENT COMPETITIONS:

Fancy Dress Competition (21/05/2010):

Solo events:  Time Limit (3 mts)

Upto 6 years   – Girls/Boys
6-9 years   – Girls/Boys
9-12 years  – Girls/Boys
12-18 years  – Girls/Boys
 
Family Photo Competition (21/05/2010):

Time Limit (2mts)

Competition exclusively for families where the family poses on stage as if in a photo and is judged on various factors like dress, pose, presentation etc.
 
DANCE COMPETITION (21/05/2010) (No language bar):

Solo events:  Time Limit (4 mts)
Upto 6 years – Girls/Boys
6-9 years    – Girls/Boys
9-12 years – Girls/Boys
12-18 years – Girls/Boys
Above 18 years – Men/Women
 
GROUP events:  Time Limit (5 mts) KONKANI SONGS only
Preferably Mixed Gender with Minimum 4 and Maximum 8 members)

Konkani Speaking (Elocution) Competition (28/05/2010):

Solo Items: Time Limit (3 mts)

Upto 6 years - Topic: Mujem Kutam (My Family)
6-9 years – Topic:  Mujem Iskol (My School)
9-12 years  –Topic: Manglur (Mangalore)
12-18 years  – Topic: Mhuje Havyas (My hobby)
 
Adults Written Quiz Competition: (28/05/2010):

Konkani/English Version 

Topics covered: Mangalore (history/historical monuments/places) /Konkani Music/Konkani Literature/Konkani Customs & Traditions
 
Konkani Singing Competition (28/05/2010):

Solo Items: Time Limit (3 mts)

Upto 6 years   – Girls/Boys
6-9 years   – Girls/Boys
