Mangalore, May 11: Addressing a press conference in the city on Monday May 10, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, said that the state Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, will dedicate the second phase of the runway at the international airport here on May 15, in the presence of the union ministers. “During his visit to the district, the CM will also lay foundation stone for the widening work of Mani-Sampaje road,” he revealed.

Palemar claimed that during the last two years since the BJP formed government in the state, various schemes and projects were taken up in the district at a cost of Rs 1,126 crore. This includes Rs 176 crore sanctioned for the widening work of Mani-Sampaje road, he explained.

He revealed that the state cabinet will soon give its nod for the new road to connect new terminal of the local airport, costing Rs 7.60 crore. “Once this road comes up, the distance to the airport from the city will get reduced by eight kms,” he added. The minister also dwelt upon the achievements of the government under pension schemes for the aged persons, handicapped persons, payment of compensation to families when the head of the family dies, scheme for the welfare of fishermen, and also under ‘Bhagyalakshmi’ scheme. He further claimed that the new drinking water supply pipeline laid at a cost of Rs 106 crore in the city for ensuring 24-hour water supply to the citizens, new vented dam being built for augmenting drinking water supply for the city and the construction of a new bus stand for the city, which is in progress, are the achievements of the BJP government. “By using Rs 100 crore special grant released by the Chief Minister for the development of this city, we had taken up drinking water project, road concretization, street lights for the market etc. We have completed the concreting work of 22 roads in the city. Several others are in the final stages. The CM will sanction another Rs 100 crore for the city, by using which, we will concrete other important roads,” he added.

Palemar also claimed that the government has given its concurrence for several concessions in the Comprehensive Development Plan for the city, which would enable the residents to build houses in smaller sites, escape from payment of penalty, and make smaller provisions for roads.

He requested the people of the district not to get engaged in destructive activities during the gram panchayat elections and to enable everyone to cast their votes in a peaceful atmosphere. He also clarified that the reports about him seeking votes in the name of the party for gram panchayat elections, were misleading. Palemar said that the Bajpe sub-inspector was sent on leave by the officials of the department, and the government had no role to play in this incident.

MLA, N Yogish Bhat, city mayor, Rajani Dugganna, deputy mayor, Rajendra Prasad and former mayor, M Shankar Bhat, were present at the press conference.

Arun CK, Mangalore/ Dubai, you must be a strong BJP supporter. If you want to list the scandals during Congress rule of 60 years, why don't you mention some of the ACHIEVEMENTS of 6 year NDA rule?
    1. Kargil war
    2. Coffingate
    3. Selling of ITDC Hotels in Mumbai/Bangalore for pittance (who pocketed crores?)
    4. Telecom scandal - Why Reliance & other private operators were allowed to enter Mobile sector while Central PSU BSNL was starved of funds & denied permission?
    5. Why the Bofors guilty were not punished, when they promised to unearth everything & jail culprits within a month?
    6. Why Modi was not jailed when thousands of innocent Muslims were masacred? Why talk only about Sikh riots? Why couldn't NDA punish the guilty?
    7. Why NDA did not unearth blackmoney stashed abroad?
    8. What happened to crores of rupees collected in Ram Shilanyas name?
9.Have the guilty of Babri Masjid demolition, Somanath temple attack punished.
There are many great ACHIEVEMENTS OF NDA RULE WITHIN JUST 6 YEARS WHEN CONGRESSMEN TOOK 60 YEARS. WHY MANY OF THESE SO CALLED CROOKS WERE ADMITTED INTO BJP OR NDA CAME TO POWER WITH THE SUPPORT OF MANY PARTIES WITH DOUBTFUL INTEGRITY?
All politicians are alike once they come to power. Just see what's happening in Karnataka. Congress, BJP, JD(S) or other parties are same. Let us not blindly support these parties.

Mr. Prasad's comment is really true, I wish Mr. palemar tries to analyse the condition of the road from Buntwal to Belthangadi, which is full of narrow culverts, small bridges, no sideway drainage, no pedesstrian path way in Punjalkatte, Guruvayanaker towns. The so named National Highway-234 in February-2009 requires high attention... we look forward some genuine interest of the Politicians.

To please people affected by bad roads, it is wise idea of the present politicians putting up some Press meets talking big things and plans of development,Changing the State Highway number to National Highway, Appointing some committee (Jobs to Party workers) to prepare a Project and recommondations, laying foundation stone etc. This would eep the people (voters)dreaming for the next five years till their term ends!. What a idea sabhjeeee!

Good comments on road matters. These politicians will be concerned only on Airport development and its utilities, because they are using it more oftenly than common man. Buntwal-Belthangadi Road is used by common people, why it requires so much significance?.

Well commented on Buntwal - Ujire Road, if some one wants to drive through this stretch FOR THE FIRST TIME, definately it is daingerous!. After few kilometers from Buntwal towards Belthangadi, several narrow culverts with poor visibility, and narrow roads, did take away thousands of lives in the past many years.

Mr. Palemar if he could do something on this will definately remembered in gratitude by the people of Buntwal and Belthangadi Taluk.

Dear Prasad, it is wonderful comment. All this dirty politics never uplift the society. Politics is some what is a money making business. The Press meet of these leaders to inform some story about projects etc is in the side linesof GP elections. Gone or those days, educated society can well understand these people.

All Projects on roads are simply on papers, nothing moves ahead. When funds are needed to move forward these paper projects, state blames Centre for delay in funding, and then Centre blames state for not acquiring lands in time. Ultimately, road projects never do well in our state. Jai Hind!

Mr. Palemar is 100% correct in his speech. Following are the BJP's achievements in these two years: -

    1. Anti Beef Slaughtering Bill: This bill is the No. 1 achievement by BJP,because any governing body such as elected government or Kings in Karnataka since the birth of planet earth could do this.
    2. Communal Riots at Shimoga.
    3. Communal Riots at Mysore
    4. Abundant money to Muts including Nithyananda Swamiji at Bidadi.
    5. Expelling lonely woman mister from the Ministry.

Now, we need to search for an independent authority who can give this BJP government with a prize similar to that of Nobel.

If you are lucky enough to do visit kindly tour once expecially go towards Carstreet area and kankanady. Then come and comment whos's that previous Govt of yours are doing all these work. And FYKI these work will not help much for Gram Panchayath coz if you dint know they come under MCC limits and not panchayat. And for peple who talk about BJP's vote bank politics then what will you comment on your Dear Moideen Bhava's state ment last week about openly admitting and still urging muslims to vote only for Congress and dont divide your votes and help BJP. As far as my understanding goes ..IS THIS NOT VOTE BANK POLITICS BY SO CALLED SECULAR'S ?.. Then how's BJP wrong by appeasing one more section of society ?

Well expressed comment Mr Prasad. Our roads get repaired only when our politicians travel here. I remembered the road repaired some 12 years ago when then prime minister Mr Devegowda offered chandika mahayaga in Jamalabad fort area. the same thing happened last year when world tulu convention was held in Ujire.

Dear Palemar, we respect your vote bank dedication in giving enough attention towards (inside)Managlore Taluk. But as a District In-charge Minister, I wish you need to know the condition of other Taluk roads, particularly Buntwal to Ujire Road. This is is a single carriage SH-64 now named NH-234 (on papers) leading to Charmadi and Mudigere. This road width remained same for the past 100 or more years. The PCU (Passenger Car Units) that are measured to understand the denisity of the stretch is remarkably crossed 15,000 PCU, and as per the standard policy, above 15,000 PCU should be converted to 4 lane road.

Whereas, Buntwal to Ujire stretch is full of culverts, small bridges. Some where in Murje, Punjalkatee, Guruvayuanakere - particularly, the sideway drainage has been acquired to bit increase the raod by PWD, due to which during rainy season water gushes and splashes on the road side shops, houses and even the pedestrians have to face this.

There is a big drama in widening this road for the past 5 years, as the state government included this stretch to widen under KSHIP-II, and later in November-2009 the same was ped with a reason that Central Government d the strech as N H 234.

Recently, in a press meet by the D.K executive Engineer - Krishne Gowda made a shocking revealations "..upgradation of road on official records does not change the situation on the ground, NH-13 d on papers a decade ago which till date did not change the road width.

BJP has done the tremendous job on the roads, during the time of corporation election there was not a Meter of proper roads. All these years we had very very bad roads but now we can see some class roads and the widening of carstreet area is praise worthy and the all the credit goes to BJP. Yeddi and his team.
