Shifted 'Pilinalike' replica at Mangaluru International Airport relocated to its original place

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Nov 19: Days after the district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai demanded the Adani Group, who took over the operations of Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), to replace the replica of 'Pilinalike' (tiger dance) art, which was moved from its original place, authorities on Wednesday November 18 relocated the replica to its original position.

Speaking to daijiworld.com, Mithun Rai said, "I had spoken to PRO of Adani Group and urged to not play with the sentiments of our people, instead the art should be replaced in its proper place. Pilinalike is Tulunadu's pride and culture. It is in blood of every Tuluvas in Mangaluru. Please respect our emotions.

"The pride and culture of Tulunadu cannot be hidden. It is against the wish and will of every Tuluva. Pilinalike is the art and culture of Tulunadu visible to people who come to Mangaluru," he said.

When Daijiworld contacted the airport, a spokesperson on behalf of MIA said, "The information is incorrect. The Pilinalike art (Tiger dance) installation was never shifted and continues to stay at the domestic arrivals at its original location.”

It may be recalled that Congress in the district had opposed the move of the union government of handing over the airport maintenance to Adani Group. In a press meet held on Tuesday November 17, Mithun Rai had asked the replica of Pilinalike art to be installed back on its original place.

Mithun Rai getting Mangalore’s cultural heritage restored at the airport is indeed appreciable, although it should have been done by the concerned MLA. Similarly the erstwhile Vijaya Bank too was a part of Mangalore’s legacy. The bank’s name could also have been retained had all politicians irrespective of parties had come together.

Not much concerned about these statues but I am losing my mind thinking about renaming of our Mangalore airport..
I am against this from core of my heart.. I think we all should oppose this.. if people are not aware what kind of a person this Adani is then please look into videos in YouTube about him.. there was protest in Australia, Germany and his own Gujrat.. if this man wants to develop India then why can't he develop his Gujrat first..
First of all Mangalore has a humid climate I don't understand how can one start his coal project in Mlore??? Let him do it in Gujrat.. People won't dirty thier own house rather throw their dirt on neighbors...
All these fake film actors will never stand up for a cause.. they come.to mlore once in while to show off thier eliteness..

Name of the airport has not changed. It is still the same MIA. Only the authority managing and maintaining the airport has changed from AAI to Adani Airports. The latter is the name of the company that has taken over the airport.

I work in the airport as an airline ground staff. I was there when the ' elephant logo' was delivered and when it was moved. The logo was blocking the 'pilinalike' while placed by the Lorry drivers. The only change is it has now been moved away by a few feet. I dont think it can be termed as an achievement of a certain individual or a political party. All you had to do is request the Aayaas, who pushed it last evening . If this is termed as a 'Congress leaders achievement' then I am sorry.

Mithun Rai is not working at the airport, you are. You never felt any pain when the Tulunaadu identify was overshadowed by some other ID ?

You don't feel any happiness when the glory was restored ?? What difference it makes to people who don't have any feeling of belonging to Tulunaadu ??

I saw this when I flew to Mumbai on Sunday , and today as I returned well. The elephant was moved back by a few paces. Unless and otherwise someone told you, none one is going to notice this minute change.
I dont understand what there is to Gloat about it by calling a press conference. A verbal request to the airport admin in charge, would have done the trick. Its like moving of a desk or table at office.
As per recent studies the debacle of the Congress is due to its chelas . The leadership cannot be blamed entirely. See we already have people calling him a 'Tiger ' now. Ha Ha ha.

Mr. Sam for your kind information its not your office or home to shift the table or desk as you wish

They need the permission from higher authorities to do minor changes in the Airport and its not a domestic Airport its international Airport

So congress leaders has taken this issue to higher authorities then only they will rectify and solve the issue

we common ppl just sit and write comment on everything

Just appreciate the work what he have done

This is laughable. What purpose will it serve. what problem does it solve? Just because he requested to reinstate the statue at its original position,? How will a placement of a statue , benefit the common man. ??? Will it revive the party? So in the next elections. will congress leaders boast about this as an achievement that 'we changed the position of the statue in the airport!!!!!!!'' .
