Mangaluru, Nov 19: BJP district president Sudharshan Moodbidiri alleged that Congress is into caste politics over renaming of Mangaluru International Airport (MIA).

Addressing the media here on Thursday November 19, Sudharshan said, "Congress is shattered in the elections so they are trying to sow seeds of casteism. When Deyi Baidethi was insulted, Congress did not utter a single word. They even opposed in the committee meeting over renaming of Ladyhill circle.

"The name of MIA has not been changed, but the Airport Authority of India name was replaced with Adani Airport. When Mangaluru airport became an international airport in the year 2012, why did Congress not recommend the name of Koti Chennaya?" he questioned.

Sudharshan said that the Congress does not have clarity over the renaming of the airport. Congress leaders are coming out with giving different names to the airport such as Koti Chennaya, Rani Abbakka and U Srinivas Mallya, he said.

"MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had sent a proposal to the government to rename the airport on Koti Chennaya, but the state government did not send a proposal regarding the same. MP Nalin is striving hard to rename the airport and will conduct a meeting with the airport officials and come up with a good decision," he said.

People,I am really got tired of hearing about caste,Congress,BJP .or renaming of all old places only after the BJPs nose. Why should one change the name of airport?Let it be as Bajpe Air port ,or MIA as it is.Atleast your time is saved, end of discussions.Names dont bring any benefit.Renaming is only irritating oncoming guests, changing names in Atlas ,tourists etc. This happens only in our India.waste of time.Instead invest this time in any other Projects.

Unfortunately none of these so called leaders ever read the order from the Central Government saying that none of the Airports can be named after any Dignitaries or famous people. This is after the Bangalore International Airport was named after Kempe Gowda Airport. International flights cannot correctly pronounce the Indian names and hence there is a rule saying that All AIRPORTS WILL BE NAMED AFTER THE PLACE THEY ARE IN. :Unfortunately our leaders are so engrossed with hate, that they just want to oppose their opponents.

Congress at least kept the local identity where as the present BJP government are erasing our identity. What a shame. People have voted for the good governance and now good governance means blaming previous government & changing names. We lost our banks and its name, still our politicians are quiet.
Our air port is gone, still our politicians are quiet. Slow by slow our tulunadu identity & culture are vanishing.

What is urgent need to rename the airport? Let it always remain MIA. If there are any remaining, restore the name of Vijaya Bank or at least strive to rename it as Bank of Mangalore & Baroda.

It's smazing to know how you speak according to your convenience. When bjp renamed anything it's nationalism n congress does then caste politics. What about Mr c.t.rsvi asking to rename jnu. What about Mr. Yogi who had changed so many names. What about bjp tryong to change the names of roads, circles etc. In this case bjp stands on top in caste politics sir.
