Mangalore,May 13: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, V Ponnuraj, and is Udupi district counterpart, P Hemalata, have been deputed for training in United States of America. A total of eight IAS officers from the state, belonging to the 2000-01 batch will be participating in this training.

Ponnuraj has handed over charge to additional deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Prabhakar Sharma, while T M Prabhakar, additional deputy commissioner of Udupi district, will discharge duties of the deputy commissioner in Udupi district in Hemalata’s absence.

Both the deputy commissioners are leaving on May 13 for a three-week training course in management and public administration, being conducted in USA from May 15 to June 5. They are expected to take over charge of their respective districts upon completion of training, on June 9.

Both the deputy commissioners were expected to undergo this course last year, after their training stint at Mussooie, but their training was cancelled at the last minute because of the sudden outburst of swine flu.
