Bengaluru, Nov 20: "Coronavirus pandemic is on a downward trend in Karnataka. However, we have to wait and watch whether the second wave of the pandemic will increase in the months of February and March of 2021," said the nodal officer for coronavirus testing Dr C N Manjunath.

Manjunath further said, "Now the coronavirus wave is more or less in the flattening phase. Positivity rate is around 1 to 1.5%. According to the disease, the second wave generally appears after two or three months. We have to wait whether it will affect Karnataka in the month of February or March 2021.

"The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic is already on in the European countries. Delhi and Mumbai in our country have also reported the second wave. This is the first phase. We cannot say that this is the second phase. It is not possible also to differentiate whether this has come to India from overseas countries or is indigenous. In Karnataka, the coronavirus has reached the level of community spread."

Dr Pradeep Banandur of NIMHANS says that after October 11, the intensity of the coronavirus pandemic in the state has decreased. Financial activities have revived just now. The chances of spreading of coronavirus are more during this time according to the information shared by Dr Sathyanarayana, Mysuru of Manipal hospital.

"The immunity of the general public may decrease during the three months of winter. So there is a chance that the second wave of coronavirus might increase. Next three months are critical. If people do not get alert, the second wave might hit badly," says Dr Sathyanarayana.
