Udupi, May 14: Prasad Nethralaya, a one-stop eye care centre here will be relocated to a sprawling new campus at A J Alse Road, behind Alankar Theatre on Sunday May 16.
The purpose is to provide total eye care solutions under one roof to the patients from all strata of society.

Prasad Nethralaya has been providing quality eye care to residents in and around Udupi, Karnataka, India since 2002. It has established a reputation as Udupi’s “One-Stop Eye Care Centre,” offering everything from routine eye exams and contact lens fitting to treatment of eye diseases and laser vision correction with the highest levels of excellence, service and professionalism.
Treatments for cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, corneal disorders, retinal detachments, uveitis, and cosmetic lid surgery are provided at the hospital.
Dr Krishna Prasad, the director of the hospital who has also rendered service in the government sector intends to provide free service to poor patients via Nethra Jyothi Charitable trust, which is a sister concern of Prasad Nethralaya. He has conducted more than 200 eye camps in and around the district. He has been awarded for his excellent service in eye care by JCI, Rotary and Udupi.
Prasad Nethralaya has a record of performing more than 15,000 surgeries of which more than 5,000 was done free of cost for the economically challenged.
The new campus has a spacious parking area and more than 13,000 sq/ft floor area building with an ambience comparable to the best in hospitality.
Sovereign compact Phaco unit for Cataract Extraction, State OCT from Zeiss for scan of the retina and optic nerve, I- care tono meter for checking pressure in the eye, State of the art, operating micro scopes by Zeis, ETO sterilization unit, B- scan unit Vitrectomy and other retinal surgical devices among others are the lately acquired machines in the hospital.
There is a team of four full time and one part time doctor who are well qualified and efficient in providing eye care in all specialty field of ophthalmology. Subspecialty services of squint, oculoplasty, cataract and refractive surgeries, glaucoma and paediatric ophthalmology will be made available in the hospital.
Dr Krishna Prasad will be available full time in the present hospital for the benefit of all patients.
A 24 hour emergency service with an in- house consultant will be run by the hospital. The operation theatres are equipped with state of the art instruments for the best surgical outcomes. The sterilization units are in par with best to prevent any chance of infection to patients.
