Doha, May 14: Voktar Paule team defeated St Sebastian Benaulim in a three-a-side football tie-breaker, organized by Friends Circle Qatar, in memory of the late Ana Maria Felicia Fernandes. The event was held at the Ahmed Bin Hanbal School ground on May 7, 2010 from 4 pm onwards.

In all, 40 teams participated in the tie-breaker. The competition, which was quite entertaining, was well-organized by Friends Circle Qatar. The crowd was thrilled at the deft display of skills by some sharp shooters, quick reflexes of the goalkeepers and the powerful performances of the players.
 
The first shot was taken by Wanderer Hockey Boys and Diwar Boys.  




























 
The following players were awarded prizes for their outstanding performances in the competition:

Best goalkeeper – James (Voktar Paule). Best shooter - Jusico (Paklo). Team with best discipline - Coutorim Gymkhana.

A special prize was awarded to Anezka D’souza.

The prizes were given away by Avito Carvalho, Maurice Pereira, Joaquim Pereira and Jaison Sequeira.

Earlier in the day, the chief guest and guest of honour were introduced to the players by Melbino, William and Emille Fernandes.

Avito Carvalho, a leading personality from the Konkani-speaking community here, was the chief guest. Jason Sequeira, Mauricio Pereira and Joaquim Pereira were the guests of honour. The event was compered by John Dias. Polly Fernandes proposed vote of thanks.

Caji Fernandes expressed gratitude to Sahar Projects, one of the sponsors of the event. Dennis D’Souza thanked Sign Tech Neon, while Kumaran thanked Rayyan Mineral Water, Coca Cola, for their sponsorships.  Elvis D’Souza extended special thanks to Godfrey, Stephen, James, Santarita, Antony Gomes, Melwyn Barretto and all other volunteers who contributed immensely for the success of the event.
