Mangaluru, Nov 30: In a tragic incident which happened at sea near Baikampady here on Sunday November 29, a fisherman got tangled inside a net he was spreading to catch fish, and lost his life.

The unfortunate victim of the incident was Naveen Karkera (32), resident of Hosahithlu House in Baikampady. He had travelled in his country boat for some distance in the sea and was spreading the net when the net got messed up at his toes and he drowned. Even though he was a skilled swimmer, as he had got entangled in the net, he could not come out of water.

Immediately, fishermen in another boat rushed to his rescue. They brought him out of water and admitted him into a hospital but his life could not be saved. The doctors pronounced him brought dead.

Naveen was unmarried. He was fourth son of the family. His father is no more and all his three brothers had died in tragic situations when very young. One of them had met with an accident at Madikeri, the other had committed suicide, while the third one had died of ill health. The death of her only support has plunged his aged mother into an abysmal state.

Naveen was a friendly person and was active in social and religious activities. He was a member of Navajyothi organization.

Our state's present non-elected Govt. is one of the most inefficient in entire Karnataka's political history. Entire world reeling under severe COVID-19, still useless (uneducated, illiterate) Central PM-HM against farmers & this state Govt. CM (old age of 79/80 yrs) 5-DCMs, ministers, MLA's are trying for ministership.

At this time, all elected (or selected thru Trozan fixed EVM's) people's in-power representatives Including President, Vice President, PM, HM, FM, DM, CM, MLA, MP, MLCs must visit each & every village of India to get clear economic conditions & peoples living conditions.

India is already in Recession as per RBI declared last week, but in fact, India is already in Recession from Feb-March 2020..since Covid-19 increased from then.

India can't continue to light candles in the night & clap in the night for Covid-19. That is done only by illiterate, non-educated, inexperienced political leaders, they have only a Hidden Agenda.

RIP Naveen. How many fishermen must die before govt makes life vests mandatory and provides them subsidized.
