Sene Stings, Moves Court Against Two Media Houses

Bangalore, May 19 (DC) : The Sri Rama Sene has filed a case against two media houses in connection with the ‘sting’ operation on its leaders Pramod Mutalik and Prasad Attavar. The Sene’s Bengaluru leader Vasanth Kumar Bhavani has lodged a complaint at the 2nd ACMM court in Bengaluru and the court directed the Siddapura police station to register the complaint.

Vasanth, through the application at the court, has accused the media houses of offences under 120 (b), 425, 463, 464, 468, 469, 470 and 571 (read with 34) of IPC. The court directed the Siddapura police to file a report by June 17.

Caught in Camera : Mutalik and Vasanth

According to Vasanth, false information has been given to the public. He stated that on April 25 a person rang him up for appointment and met him on April 27. The person said he was hosting a programme on Love Jihad and requested that they stage manage an attack. When Vasanth refused to do so, the person tried to persuade him by offering a ‘donation’. Vasanth further stated that the conversations were telecast despite the Sene refusing the offer.

The TV report stated that its crew approached Vasanth Kumar Bhavani, the president of the Sene in Bengaluru. The leaders of Sri Ram Sene were allegedly shot on a secret camera while accepting money to carry out stage managed attacks.

In the sting operation, the TV crew met Prasad Attavar, leader of the Sene in Mangalore, in the central prison in Mangalore.

The TV crew had approached Mutalik first posing as artists wanting quick publicity. The Sri Rama Sene founder had referred the crew to his close associate Attavar. It was alleged that Mutalik agreed to vandalise three art exhibitions in the state for Rs 60 lakh.
