Bengaluru: Gram panchayat elections to be held in two phases on December 22, 27

Bengaluru, Nov 30: The state Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold the gram panchayat elections in two phases.

The EC announced the date of polling on Monday November 30 and the Election Code of Conduct is also enforced from Monday itself.

The first phase polling will be held on December 22 and second phase will be on December 27. The counting of votes will be held on December 27.

Polling will be held from 7 am to 5 pm. In total, polling will be held for 5,762 gram panchayats that have 35,884 wards and 92,121 members.

In the first phase, elections will be held for 2,930 gram panchayats of 113 taluks and the second phase will have polling for 2,832 gram panchayats of 113 taluks.

The dates for filing nomination for first phase is from December 7 to December 11. Polling will be on December 22 for the first phase.

Dates for filing nomination for second phase is from December 11 to December 16. Polling for second phase will take place on December 27.
