Bengaluru, Dec 1: A delegation led by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy president Sunil Puranik called on chief minister B S Yediyurappa in Bengaluru on Saturday on the preparations for the 13th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival being held in the city.
Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy president Sunil Puranik apprised the chief minister that concerted efforts are being made to get international recognition for the Bengaluru International Film Festival.
He said the Academy has been doing its best since the last 10 years to get international recognition for the Bengaluru International Film Festival as out of the hundreds of film festivals being held all over the world as many as 45 have been granted international recognition, which will be a feather in the cap of Bengaluru.
Sunil Puranik said the Academy proposed to hold the 13th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival in the last week of February or in the first week of March 2021.
The chief minister gave the in principle approval for organizing the Bengaluru International Film Festival.
The delegation comprised of Bengaluru Development Autnorty (BDA) Chairman S R Vishwanath, Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) chairperson Shruti, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president D R Jayarajand Karnataka Information and Public Relations department commissioner Dr P S Harsha.
The chief minister earlier held discussions on the Bengaluru City Parking Policy 2.0 and urged the officials to revise the draft parking policy in tune with the growing numbers of vehicles in the city.
Urban development minister Byrati Basavaraj, BDA chairman S R Vishwanath and chief secretary T M Vijaya Bhaskar and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
WistronInfocom Manufacturing India Pvt Ltd vice president Vincent Lee and managing director Sudipo Gupta called on chief minister B S Yediyurappa at his Home Office, Krishna, in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Urban development minister Byrati Basavaraj and chief minister’s principal secretary Dr E V Ramana Reddy were present at the meeting.
In the morning, the chief minister B S Yediyurappa paid homage to former chief minister and builder of Vidhana Soudha Kengal Hanumanthaiah to mark his death anniversary by garlanding the statue in front of Vidhana Soudha.
Urban development minister Byrati Basavaraj and the family members of late Kengal Hanumanthaiah joined the chief minister in paying their respects to the late chief minister.
