Bengaluru: Heavier penalties, increased jail terms likely for cow slaughter

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Dec 7: Through a press release, state minister for animal husbandry, Prabhu Chauhan, has said that anti-cow slaughter laws would be made more stringent on the lines of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat by adopting parts of the laws which have proposed tough fines and jail terms for this crime. He said he had visited both Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, studied the laws there, and held discussions with the officials and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath about the laws governing cow slaughter. He said that his government will move tougher provisions for cow slaughter and the bill will be moved in the session of the legislature that is set to begin on Monday.

Sources say that the government plans to introduce ten years jail term and fine of Rs five lac for illegal cow slaughter. As per the current provisions of the Cow Slaughter Ban Act of 1964 that is in vogue, six months jail term for illegal cow slaughter and fine of Rs 1,000 has been imposed. The government is likely to propose fine of Rs 5 lac for this crime.

As per the current act, slaughter of cows that are aged over 12 years, and aged and unproductive cattle can be slaughtered after obtaining permission in advance.

The then BJP government had proposed to enhance the punishment for illegal cow slaughter to seven years jail term and fine of Rs one lac. Even though the amendments were passed and sent for Presidential assent, the President had not signed it. The amendment bill was referred back to the government and but the then Congress government in 2013 decided to continue with the old law.

The state government is understood to have planned to raise more sheep and goats so that meat production is not affected by the cow slaughter ban.

This double standing fake government is not having guts to Stop the beef export. It's growing in double digit year on year. They make sure the sufficient supply for Export business majorly managed by Hindu dons. The lack of domestic demand by the strict laws will reduce the price and the exporters can earn more.

But Daivid, humans are voting for protecting cows and not Humans or Countries development. See during 2014 Modi's first agenda was saving cows. After becoming PM he boosted beef export and Hindu Rastra secured 1st place in BEEF EXPORT. The whole world is aware of this. That is why BJP is focusing on COWs and not humans, I am not seeing anything wrong in that. Remember always "it is in voters hands and not in politicians hands".

Okay so the law is implemented . Its either you live with it or get onto the streets and protest and demand for it like the farmers are doing. Now dont tell me that you want someone else to protest for you. We have learnt it the hard way. Just being internet karsevaks does not help. The lack of guts and unity in the opposition has led to all this xhit. We cannot blame the Govt for everything.

During my school days Beef meat (bobby veal) used to be available at Kankanady market stall for Rs. 8 per KG. Mutton Rs. 16 and pork Rs. 10 Look at the inflation rate ? over and above BJP drama artificial propaganda. Why there was no such issues during the past years. As the government changed their own sentiments and rules started harassing minority community. This is nothing but forced rule fir political purpose. Majorities are blackmailed for political upper hand. Too much to snatch people personal choices and living rights for nothing.

Let people eat meat if they want. It's up to them because we have been into eating beef from before even the Hindus who came to do chores in our houses they used to ask, beg and eat. Now why anybody should feel that we should not eat? Nobody will slaughter a cow which gives milk. But there is no harm in slaughtering a barren animal because it is a burden on caretaker.

Where it is written in any Holy books. Why creating your own rules and regulations. This is nothing but
invading in others territory by force.
I do not eat and will never allow others to savor .
After few centuries even other milk giving animals may fall under some sentiments.
Is it going continue for generation to generation.

In North India most of the people are vegetarians compared to South India. If karnataka government bans beef then automatically chicken meat price will increase, so end of the day who win the battle and who lost the battle. People please think before commenting on any issue. Does beef ban is a real issue of present karnataka? There are plenty of issues to raise on various scams and developments. I guess opposition is not doing their home work.

Cow meat is being passed off as buffalo meat and illegally exported from India with the help of fake certificates. Recently, nine first information reports (FIRs) have been filed by the police in Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and Jharkhand and consignments of 1,011 tonnes of suspected cow meat worth Rs 16 crore have been seized.

After confiscating the consignments, labelled as buffalo meat, the state agencies sent samples to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). In seven out of nine cases, FSL testified that the samples were indeed of cow meat being passed off as buffalo meat. No doubt, India bans cow meat export on paper. but, even if you do not believe, reality doesn’t go away.

Are BJP govts really serious about cow ? Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Kerala, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura and West Bengal are the states where there are no restrictions on cow slaughter. In some states, cow slaughter is allowed with conditions. Can you allow your mother to be killed in other states, if you believe cow as your mother ?

dear Pokaa, for bjp cow is important than human being. YOu can kill anyone and come out on bail. |

But cow slaughter gets hard punishment. BJP ban is for consuming beef in the country but it is allowed to export beef. If the bill is passed, more cown will be transported to |Gujarat beef exporting factoies owned by bjp supported Brahmin sanghis. Law is only for common citizen and not concerned to beef exporters. BJP is working on these illogic issues and not working to solve other problems like poverty, job, health facilities etc. bjp is going to reserve one room in cabinet building to host cows / buffallows.
Also there will be separate ministry to take care of cows all over india.
