BJP spokesperson Capt Ganesh Karnik urges K'taka farmers to not support Bharath Bandh

Mangaluru, Dec 7: BJP state spokesperson Capt Ganesh Karnik has urged farmers in the state to not extend their support to Bharath Bandh which will be held on Tuesday, December 8.

Addressing the media here on Monday, December 7, Capt Ganesh Karnik said, "Despite having APMC Act several issues were faced by the farmers which the previous government failed to address. 92% of the farmers have been under the clutches of middlemen due to which they have been facing atrocities. The other political parties have also mentioned in their election manifesto that they would make amendments to the APMC Act."

"Some of these political parties who are supporting the Bharat Bandh are the agents of these middlemen. They are just protesting in the name of farmers to gain political mileage. Farmers should not fall victim to the conspiracies hatched by these political parties. BJP was ready for an open discussion, however, this request was dismissed which indicates a conspiracy brewing in this situation," said Ganesh Karnik.

"After 2014, there have been a lot of administrative changes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi who introduced several schemes for the benefit of the farmers," said Karnik.

Trade Unions and farmers from more than 12 states, including whole northern India, have so far extended their support for the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call of farmer organisations on December 8 where the farmers are raising their voice against the Centre’s three contentious farm laws.

Farmers are not stupid. They know the ground realities and they know exactly what they need. They should be consulted on any new rules and nothing should be forced on them. When people give you power the government should act wisely and not impose itself on people.

we should support this bandh because this new farmer law is not in favor of farmers , it indirectly harming labor sector too.Ultimately the agriculture sector moves under corporate sectors , by example Adani group, it may lead to division of labour,, rich become rich and poor become poor, you can remember system of 19th century called "aDhani - Vokkel "Jeetha or Paddhathi.

I do not know exactly what are the new changes govt has introduced. You have mentioned here that government can take the land back from you as a punishment for keeping farm land barren.

My elder sister is in Mumbai with her sons. They are well off. My sister has 10 acre agricultural land in Kelmbet, near Belman, having good water facilities, which is not cultivated from about 16 years and they have no intention to continue farming. Due to high labour cost, no person will come forward to
do farming in their land. Hence, if you know, please inform me regarding the new refinements that are introduced by the new act in regards to keeping farm land barren. This is not a comment, but a request.

    Dear Santan Sir,

I understand sister got this land through inheritance. Nothing will happen to her land as per the reform which has been brought by Modi Government. No worries Sir.

Having said this, every year village panchayats are making survey of barren land and report it to the state government. This is basically to check whether there is drastic reduction is farming. There is a threat to food security of India if more and more people keep farm land barren. Hence, government has by default has the right to take back the land (in government language, they call it as land acquisition) and give it to the person who can do farming.

My second para is part of Indian Governance since 1947 (this become strong in 1960s after Indians were surviving on American sponsored free food) and nothing to do with Modi.

Remember that Modi achieved Sardar Sarovar against Medha Patkar protest...
In the beginning farmers supported Medha, later realized Modi is the best as he is forward thinking person...
Here too, Modi will be the winner in the end....
80 % of the farmers (read it as small farmers) will support Modi... remaining 20%, let them sink with Pappu..

Farmers who are on protest have openly said that they don't want any party's support. Their protest is against Farm Bills. If there wasn't something deceiving, they would not have come on the roads. If BJP was so concerned about Farmers, the Bills would have been enacted after proper discussion.

Capt. Karnik should not waste his energy. Save it Sir, as you did during Adani's take over of MIA, Light House Hill renaming or future attempt of renaming Lady Hill Circle. The politicians who weren't there to help us Mangaloreans in need, should not poke their nose when things are of benefit themselves.

FYI, the opposition, farmers unions and BJP allies were not officially informed, discussed and debated of theses laws in the parliament during official working hours by parliamentary procedures. Passing the bill and laws at any house level by taking only your own party members into confidence at unofficial working hours is illegal, unparliamentary and unconstitutional and has no authenticity and validity.
