Mangaluru: Boat tragedy - Mortal remains of lone fisherman remains untraced

Mangaluru, Dec 8: Fisherman Ansar (31) from Casba Bengre here, who had gone missing after the boat, 'Shree Raksha' drowned, remains untraced till now, even after a week of the tragedy.

The search operation on Monday December 7 did not succeed in finding him.

The process of disbursing compensation of Rs six lac each to the families of Ansar who are missing, and other five fishermen whose bodies have been found, is under way.

Parshwanath, senior deputy director of the fisheries department, said that there is provision to disburse Rs six lac from the calamity relief fund to the families of missing persons. The compensation amount is disbursed after getting a bond executed by the family members, undertaking to reimburse the compensation if the person is found later, he said.

    Here even life jacket we oulsnt have helped because the captized because of the heavy net & overload on oneside & the boat toopled & fishermen stuck in the whole bundle of net which fell over them
