Bengaluru, Dec 8: After the Twitter war between Congress leader, Siddaramaiah, and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy hotted up, the latter reminded Siddaramaiah that the JD(S) and its leaders are not the stooges of the Congress.

The two had recently exchanged strong words in the matter of government formation. Now the angry barbs being exchanged in the form of tweets related to moving of no-confidence motion against the chairman of the legislative council. "On the issue of moving a no-confidence motion against the chairman of the council, so far no Congress leaders have discussed with me even for the sake of courtesy. Still, the statement of Siddaramaiah that the secular credentials of the JD(S) are being tested, smacks of arrogance. We are not their stooges to support them without them approaching us for support. Disdainful behaviour of the Congress leaders has led that party to the current sorry state," Kumaraswamy said.

Kumaraswamy wants to know the meaning of secularism in the view of Congress and Siddarmaiah. He noted that because of the mutilated interpretation of secularism by the Congress, its secular credentials are being suspected. He wanted to know whether the breaking of castes and unnecessary appeasement are the symbols of secularism followed by Congress.

He questioned the much talked about the image of the Congress. He pointed out that the Congress had slumped from 120 to 80 seats in the 2018 election and its image has taken a beating everywhere in the country. He also reminded Siddaramaiah that the latter had been defeated in Chamundeshwari constituency and made light of the much talked about the image of Siddaramaiah and his party.

In the meanwhile, KPCC president D K Shivakumar said that his party would like to wait to see what decision the JD(S) will take in the matter of no-confidence motion proposed against the council chairman. He said that the JD(S) had said it would abide by secular principles, and reminded that his party had given the post of the deputy chairman of the council to the JD(S). "It is left to them if they deviate from their earlier stand. But we request them not to change their stand. Joining hands with the BJP for their own interests is left to them," he stated.
