Mangaluru: 21-year-old dies in bike-car collision at Padil

Mangaluru, Dec 9: After a car and a motorbike were involved in a collision on Tuesday December 8 afternoon near Aranya Bhavan, Alape Padil here, the bike rider was killed. The pillion rider suffered injuries.

Sumanth (21), a native of Chikkamagaluru and employed in a company at Bengaluru, lost his life in the accident.

Arun Kumar, who was also in the backseat, survived with injuries.

Sumanth and his friends were on a tour of various places in three motorbikes. They had started their journey from Chikkamagaluru. They had visited Dharmasthala. They were on their way to the beaches in the city when tragedy struck in the form of a car.

    We all must know India is not a bike friendly country. 4 wheeler drivers don't even know that two wheeler has the right of full lane and has to be given space like a 4 wheeler which results in two wheelers just 'sharing ' a portion of Lane and always being pushed aside causing most of the accidents.

    This is an unending horrific nightmare, replayed every day !!! Two wheelers are a potential disaster waiting to happen !!! Comparably four wheelers are relatively more safer !!! RIP !!!

    So sad. What was the need to ride bikes for long tour? Long rides are tiresome and often the rider loses patience till he reaches the destination. Long tours are enjoyable by bus or train.

    2 spot deaths within a wek almost 500 mtr distance ,no one has little patience while on ride and drive causes these type of deaths.

    This seems to be a deadly bike-car collision. The bike has been completely crushed killing the rider and injuring the pillion rider. May the soul of Sumanth RIP and wish a speedy recovery of Arun Kumar.

    Rash driving of wheelers have increased in Mangalore .
    There should be more traffic polices to stop the nuisance of wheelers.

    You cannot always blame the bike riders, what about cars drivers overtaking obstructing traffic of the other side, using the cellphones and sometimes even drivers have their infants on their lap while driving. Very sad about the accident and may his soul rest in peace.
