Mangalore: Technical Snag – Air India Cancels Flight to Kuwait
Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, May 26: Air India Express flight to Kuwait that was to leave the local airport at 9.30 pm on Tuesday was cancelled due to some technical problems. The passengers were asked to disembark from the aircraft after detecting problems at the last minute. They were later accommodated in various hotels in the city.

The said flight had arrived from Kozhikode at around 8 pm, carrying 56 passengers. At the time the flight was to leave, it had 129 passengers on board. Boarding passes had been issued and passengers had boarded the plane. There was confusion in the airport for sometime, as the passengers were unable to convey to their relatives who had come to see them off and also those scheduled to pick them up at Kuwait airport, as they were not informed about any concrete plans by Air India to take them to their destination. Although rumours about possibility of the flight having been cancelled because of the strike call by Air India employees made the rounds initially, the officials later clarified that the reason for the cancellation of the flight was the technical snags detected in the aircraft.

The flight is scheduled to leave on Wednesday May 26, even though the time of its departrure is yet to be finalized. Reliable sources in Air India said that the snag was not major, and that the captain of the flight wanted to exercise caution and make doubly sure that everything was perfect and nothing was left to chance.

I completely agree with Mr.RAI N.K and D'souza Mangalore with their comments here, this thing happened wth me last year when i was comeing back to kuwait from my vacation on 6th of August 2009.they kept us aboard on the runway for one and half hour a/c was closed and most of the passengers are families with kids.children started to cry becouse of heat and parents lost their patience and got angry with cabin crew than they anounced that this flight is cancelled and they made us to sit in the lounge for another two hours giving hope that they will arrange another flight but nothing was done and arround 3am they told us flight is rescheduled next day and by the time they arrange a local bus to take us to the hotel it was 4am.next day we travelled by local bus to he airport and 2pm flight took off from mangalore to kuwait. This is own experience flying with AIR-INDIA EXPRESS..

I FULLY AGREE WITH MADHAVA NAYAK & NEETHA MIRANDA. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, WE NEED VERY SOFISTICATED & SAFE AIR TRAVELLING. SEE TODAY THE FATE OF OUR NATIONAL CARRIER "SO CALEED AIR-INDIA, ALL THEIR ENGINEERS, TECHNICAL STAFF ON STRIKE. BY THIS ONE CAN NOW BELIEVE THAT THE ONCE CRASHED PLANE WAS TECHNICALLY NOT SOUND. SO WHEN ITS LANDING I HOPE THERE WAS SOME PROBLEM,

WE LOST INNOCENT 158 LIVES. WHY CAN'T AIR-INDIA DISSOLVE & MERGE WITH PRIVATE AIRLINES LIKE JET-AIRWAYS, KINGFISHER. WHY THESE AIRLINES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OPERATE GULF DIRECT DESTINATION. WHY CIVIL AVIATION IS NOT INSTALLING CAMERAS IN TAKE-OFF & LANDING AREAS. WE ALL ARE TAX PAYERS, IN EVERY TICKET PURCHASED THERE IS TAX AMOUNT WHICH IS FOR AIRPORTS, FLIGHTS AND SO ON.

This is not new ,They are known for doing this , Let them stop their operation and allow other private sectors to operate. They are not improving and not allowing others to operate. This is bad. At the same time in the name of Budjet flight they are really taxing Mangloreans.Compare their fare to Mangalore to other destinations and with other service providers. With these high fare this is the service they are providing

This is the common story of Air India Express. Atleast once in a month they detect problems and the flights are cancelled suddenly after boarding the passengers .Those who travel with infants & kids find it difficult to manage the situation.
