Mangalore, May 27: The district administration and airport authority jointly organized a civic condolence programme at the airport in Bajpe here on Thursday May 27.
District in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar lighted the lamp in the presence of inspector general of police (western range) Gopal B Hosur, police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and Air India regional director Krishnan, who paid homage to the deceased victims of May 22 air crash on behalf of the gathering.
Addressing reporters, Palemar said that in all 158 lives were lost and that Chief Minister B S Yedurappa has announced Rs 2 lac as a relief fund to aid crash victims’ families
Police department paid respect to the victims through guard of honour. Two minutes of silent praye too was observed by the gathering.
Priests from different religions comprising Hindu, Christian, Jain, Muslim and Sikh, respectively prayed for the repose of the departed soul. The flower bouquets and wreath too were placed as a mark of respect to the deceased..

Nothing is in our hand. Accident happens unexpectedly. But in this case we cannot console like that. The Airport Authority is fully responsible for this cause. Since years all passengers were complaining about the unsafe infrastrcute of teh Mangalore airport. Not because the Airport building. Other facilities of the airport, like the location where the runway cannot be modified in compliance with theadvanced technology of the new version of Aircrafts, dangerous approach roads to the airport etc.The concerend authorities neglected all those pleading by the passengers. The authority should feel shame on comparing the Calicut Airport which even not completed 10 years.
Condolence programme from all different religions together good. But why every now and then anouncement of Rs 2 lacs by Yedeyurappa, as if families of those who lost their kins sent them to die this unfortunate death and waiting for that money.
Atleast in future let us not fight and devide Mangaloreans on basis of religion.We are one irrespective of our different religions/languages.This way we can pay homage to the departed souls.GOD bless all and may the depated souls rest in peace.

Thanks for District administration and Airport authority for jointly organizing condolence programme to console all families irrespective of caste, creed and religion. Let us accept that anything could happen anytime as written in our destiny and stop blaming each other. Salute for fellow Mangaloreans for their excellent team work.
