AKCENT Live in Bangalore on June 5

Media Release

Bangalore, Jun 1: Europe’s No 1 pop trio Akcent from Romania will be in Bangalore on June 5 to play their signature Pop and House genre of music for fans here.

“I’ve never visited India and just can’t wait to perform there,” writes Akcent’s lead singer Adrian Sina on his facebook page, and is looking forward to getting up close and personal with Indian fans on his group’s Asia debut in India.

Flush from their victory at the recent Balkan Music Awards 2010 in Sofia, Bulgaria last week where they bagged the Best Song category for their popular single ‘That’s My Name’, Romanian pop group Akcent are all set to wow an exclusive group of Bangalore’s Pop and House fans with their brand of music on June 5 amidst the beautiful and serene setting at Opus in the Creek, Brookefields, Whitefield.

About Akcent

Their debut album in 2006 “In Culori” went gold in less than three weeks and platinum several months later making them a national phenomenon in Romania.

Their summer 2009 smash ‘That’s My Name’ scaled the top of the charts in Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Brazil as well as India. Two songs particularly, ‘Stay With Me’ and ‘That's My Name’, have become every Bangalore club-goers’ top request mantra creating a niche in the popular House genre. The other equally hummable numbers like ‘Kylie’, (The Romanian version of the song Dragoste de închiriat won them the BEST GROUP award at The MTV Romanian Music Awards in 2006) ‘Lovers Cry’, ‘Jokero’ and ‘Happy People, Happy Faces’ have their own fan following.

Akcent’s trio, Adrian Claudiu Sina, Sorin Ştefan Brotnei and Mihai Gruia started out as singing partners only to become good buddies during their decade long musical journey.

About the organizers

Twenty-somethings Akshat, Sean and Irfan, childhood buddies from Mangalore are bringing down this popular boy band as part of their Asia debut beginning in India. It all began when Irfan gifted Akshat an album with a mix of songs, one of which had the chart-topper ‘That’s My Name’. From then on Akshat researched the group and their fan following in India, and Bangalore in particular. Finding that Akcent’s songs were a constant in every club in the city, he along with Sean and Irfan worked at getting the group down to the city.
