Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SB)

Mangalore, Jun 9: A protest demanding quality services via Passport Seva Kendra near Navabharat Circle was held under the leadership of the Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress on Wednesday June 9.

Staging a protest in front of the passport office here, Mangalore MLA U T Khader and district Congress vice-president Ivan D’Souza among others voiced against lack of services by the passport centres. The authorities concerned from the regional passport office said that the minor problems are bound to happen for a while as it is a pilot project. But we will put in our efforts to solve the problems as far as we can, they said.

People voicing their grouse on the occasion said that lot of errors such as mistakes in date of birth and date of expiry of passport were noticed and that the centres here now are directing the aggrieved to approach passport office in Bangalore. Few also complained of lack of guidance.

The new passport system is really well and good. People who are in front office and block 'A' helps citizens throughout the process. And regarding the above comment : Yeah. You are absolutely correct. I have experienced in the same. And if they can behave little soft to the citizens it would be better.

Hello hello, the PSK is in fact all bogus. Another of the white elephants of the Govt. 100 applicants only are entertained per day. So whats the deal. Wait in the que before dawn. What a farce. Procedures are not backed by requisite staff. Delays are as usual. All this gimmick is to force an applicant to approach a broker where same procedures are done without hassles and the kendra is ensured of you know what.If the seva kendra is not people friendly as is the case with all Govt Depts, it needs to be shut down.

Compare to the old passport system this is the very good and world level and citizen friendly service but problem is that the process is very time consuming, we can get delayed but satisfactory service. It results in no pending document related issues, earlier we were depended on agents for passport services and their communication was very poor.

Political gimmics should be stopped by these protestors as everyone standing in the que has to stand for hours to get the formatlities completed. This is the same procedure followed in Bangalore and not the new one. May be for the people of mangalore it is new. However one should really appreciate the co-operation of the staff in the PSK.

Manglore's first full fledged Passport service centre which had commenced operations few days back. Over the past dacade Passport office at Mangalore operations have higher demand. Finally Mangaloriens and Coastal peoples dreams come thow with poor quality and service. To provide a highest standard of quality service to public and satisfy their needs to improve following few tips : Firstly involving front line(counter) staff in finding ways to improve the standard of service delivery to customer, Improving the consistency and quality of charters, Finding new way to speady work, A lot of imformation and messages are posted at the many places (notice board), One staff will verify all the papers and documents, then wait for token number to be announced for name is called go and submit the form, To increase more staff and trained them in releated to passort concern. The service at Bangalore Passport office has improved a lot and it takes only a hour to submit our applications.

I rightly agree with Vazir. These Politicians are wasting quality time.

If they really want to do good then they must increase the frequency of Mangalore train, extension upto Karwar, Kannadigas are given jobs in Railways particularly in Mangalore, Shifting of Mangalore from Southern Railway to South Western Railway.

Our Politicians from our area has not done much and wasting time by blaming the ruling Govt.

It is high time that whoever who wants to protest against these inconveniences, also take up the matter of train service between Mangalore and Bangalore via Arsikere both day and night and seek to extend same to Karwar as it is the need of general public

Why should these people waste their energies & create nuisance to the public by staging pointless protests in Mangalore when they should either do so either in Delhi before the Central authorities concerned or at least in front of the residence of External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, especially when he visits his residence in Bangalore.

Let them try to get publicity without doing any service to anybody.

While they are at it, will these great worthies DO SOMETHING ABOUT INCREASING THE FREQUENCY OF BANGALORE-MANGALORE OR KANNUR TRAIN & MORE IMPORTANTLY REDUCE THE TRAVEL TIME? I WILL SALUTE THEM IF THEY ARE ABLE TO DO THIS.

IF BANGALORE-SHIMOGA OR HUBLI CAN HAVE FAST EXPRESS TRAINS LIKE SHATABDI WITH LIMITED STOPS, INTRODUCTION OF BANGALORE-MANGALORE FAST EXPRESS OR SHATABDI SHOULD GET HIGHEST PRIORITY.
