Udupi, Jun 11: A private bus plunged into a culvert on NH 17 at Yermal – Kalsanka, near here on Friday June 11, after its driver lost control.
The bus plying from the city to Mangalore had 20 passengers when it plunged into the culvert on Friday evening.
The monsoon hit the coastal region a few days ago and it rained sparsely across the district all day on Friday. The rain soaked NH 17 causes mishaps annually this time of the year owing to the slippery road and speeding by motorists.
Meanwhile, all 20 passengers and the bus employees miraculously survived without any major injuries.
Locals rushed to the spot and helped the passengers to get out of the bus that was precariously dangling on the edge of the culvert.
Padubidri police registered a case.
